Role Overview:
We are looking for a Network L2 Operations Engineer responsible for maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. The role involves handling L2/L3 network incidents, performing root-cause analysis, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and ensuring network availability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L2 network operations and technical support for enterprise network infrastructure.
- Monitor network devices, links, and services to identify and resolve incidents proactively.
- Troubleshoot network issues related to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VPN, and connectivity.
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices including Cisco/Juniper switches and routers.
- Perform incident, problem, and change management in accordance with defined ITIL processes.
- Analyze network alerts, logs, and performance metrics to identify recurring issues.
- Perform configuration changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities as per approved change procedures.
- Troubleshoot routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Troubleshoot switching technologies including VLANs, STP/RSTP, trunking, EtherChannel, and port-security.
- Support WAN, MPLS, SD-WAN, and VPN connectivity as required.
- Coordinate with L1 teams, L3/network architecture teams, security teams, application teams, and external vendors for issue resolution.
- Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) for major and recurring network incidents.
- Maintain network documentation, configuration records, incident reports, and operational procedures.
- Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with network security, operational, and change-management standards.
- Provide on-call or shift support based on business requirements.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6 - 11 years of experience in Network Operations / Network Administration / Network Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience in L2 network troubleshooting and operations.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, ICMP, and subnetting.
- Strong experience with LAN/WAN, routing, and switching.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
- Good knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Strong understanding of VLAN, STP/RSTP, trunking, EtherChannel, and Layer 2 switching.
- Experience with VPN, MPLS, SD-WAN, or enterprise WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Good understanding of ITIL-based Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good to Have:
- CCNA / CCNP or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or other firewall technologies.
- Exposure to cloud networking on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with network automation or scripting using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of network security concepts and enterprise security practices.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Shift & Support:
- Willingness to work in 24x7 / rotational shifts and provide on-call support, depending on operational requirements.
