Wordpress Developer

About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated WordPress Developer to join our team on a 6+ Months Contract-to-Hire basis.

This role is focused on the development, customization, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable websites and web applications built on the WordPress platform.

- The ideal candidate will possess strong full-stack proficiency, particularly with PHP and modern front-end technologies like TypeScript, ensuring both robust backend functionality and exceptional user experience.

- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and functionality from scratch, adhering to WordPress coding standards and best practices.

- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using PHP for WordPress hooks, custom post types, taxonomies, and REST API endpoints.

- Develop responsive and highly interactive user interfaces using HTML and modern JavaScript frameworks, utilizing TypeScript for improved code quality, scalability, and type safety.

- Interact with MySQL/MariaDB databases, writing optimized queries and ensuring efficient data structure within the WordPress environment.

- Integrate with external APIs and services to extend the functionality of WordPress sites (e.g., payment gateways, CRM, marketing automation tools).

- Implement techniques to optimize site speed, including caching, minification, image optimization, and efficient database queries.

- Security : Ensure WordPress installations are secure, managing updates, patching vulnerabilities, and implementing security best practices.

- Debugging : Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues, conflicts, and bugs across the full stack.

- Utilize Git for version control and collaborative development workflows.

- Work effectively with designers, project managers, and other developers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Experience : 5-6 years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on the WordPress platform.

- Core WordPress : Deep expertise in the WordPress ecosystem, including custom theme/plugin development, the block editor (Gutenberg), and the WordPress REST API.

- Backend : Strong proficiency in PHP.

- Frontend : Expert knowledge of HTML and strong experience using TypeScript with modern JavaScript standards.

- Database : Experience with MySQL/MariaDB.

- Version Control : Proficiency with Git
