Virtusa - Senior Architect - Generative AI

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Generative AI Senior Architect to lead strategic GenAI initiatives, define solution architectures, evaluate emerging technologies, and deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions across diverse business use cases.

The role will be part of the GenAI Center of Excellence (CoE) and will combine architecture, hands-on technical expertise, R&D, solutioning, client engagement, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead strategic Generative AI initiatives within the GenAI Center of Excellence and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.

- Drive R&D, experimentation, and proof-of-concepts (PoCs) for new GenAI capabilities, products, and business use cases.

- Define scalable and secure solution architectures for GenAI applications across different business domains.

- Evaluate and select appropriate LLMs, AI frameworks, orchestration approaches, and cloud services based on business and technical requirements.

- Work across multiple LLM providers and cloud platforms including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure, AWS, and GCP, or equivalent technologies.

- Design and implement RAG-based solutions, including ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search, retrieval, context management, and response generation.

- Design and implement Agentic AI solutions using frameworks such as LangChain and other modern agent orchestration technologies.

- Build scalable API-driven AI services and microservices for enterprise applications and integrations.

- Develop and optimize prompt engineering strategies for different use cases and business requirements.

- Build and maintain data pipelines and supporting infrastructure for structured and unstructured data.

- Provide technical leadership to development teams, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineers.

- Support client engagements, technical discovery, proposals, solution presentations, effort estimation, and architecture discussions.

Required Skills :

- 9 - 14 years of experience in Digital Engineering, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, AI/ML, or related technology domains.

- Significant hands-on experience designing and implementing Generative AI solutions.

- Strong expertise in RAG, Agentic AI, LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, and AI application architecture.

- Strong programming skills in at least one major language used for AI/GenAI development, preferably Python, PySpark, or Java.

- Hands-on experience integrating at least one major LLM platform/model through APIs or SDKs, such as OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, Google/Gemini, or equivalent.

- Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Chroma, FAISS, or equivalent technologies.

- Strong understanding of API-based architectures, microservices, distributed systems, and scalable application design.

- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform : AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Experience leading technical teams, conducting code/design reviews, and mentoring developers.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical storytelling skills.
