SW Engineering Manager Role Description :

The SW Engineering Manager is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing a team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of high-quality software solutions. This role ensures the timely delivery of projects, adherence to best practices, and the continuous improvement of the team's technical capabilities. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust and scalable software applications, directly contributing to the success of technological initiatives.

- Team Leadership and Mentorship Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment by providing guidance, coaching, and regular feedback to enhance their skills and career growth. This involves conducting performance reviews, identifying training opportunities, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Furthermore, the Engineering Manager will ensure the team is aligned with the companys goals and values, promoting a positive and productive work atmosphere. This will directly contribute to increased team morale and higher quality output.

- Project Management and Execution Oversee the entire software development lifecycle from conception to deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This includes creating project plans, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring progress against established milestones, as well as proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues. The Engineering Manager will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to define project scope, prioritize tasks, and ensure clear communication throughout the development process. Ultimately, this streamlined approach contributes to efficient project execution and successful product launches.

- Technical Design and Architecture Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define the technical design and architecture of software solutions, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements. This includes participating in design reviews, evaluating technology options, and making recommendations on the best approaches to solve complex technical challenges. The Engineering Manager will also ensure that the team follows coding standards, conducts thorough code reviews, and implements automated testing strategies to maintain code quality. The result will be robust, high-performance software applications that meet the evolving needs of the business.

- Process Improvement and Optimization Identify opportunities to improve the software development process, implementing best practices and methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed of delivery. This includes promoting the use of Agile methodologies, automating repetitive tasks, and streamlining workflows to reduce bottlenecks. The Engineering Manager will also track key metrics to measure the effectiveness of process improvements, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance. The resulting improvements contribute to a more efficient and productive development environment.

- Code Quality and Standards Enforcement Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software. This includes conducting regular code reviews, implementing automated testing frameworks, and promoting the use of static analysis tools to identify and address potential issues early in the development cycle. The Engineering Manager will also ensure that the team follows security best practices to protect against vulnerabilities and data breaches. These measures will lead to more reliable and secure software applications.

- Collaboration and Communication Foster effective communication and collaboration within the engineering team and with other departments, including product management, QA, and operations, to ensure alignment on goals and priorities. This includes facilitating regular team meetings, providing clear and concise updates on project status, and actively soliciting feedback from stakeholders. The Engineering Manager will also act as a liaison between the engineering team and other departments, ensuring that technical issues are effectively communicated and resolved. - Technology Evaluation and Adoption Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and evaluate new tools and technologies that could benefit the organization, making recommendations on their adoption and implementation. The Engineering Manager will also work with the architecture team to develop technology roadmaps, ensuring that the organization is well-positioned to leverage new technologies to drive innovation. - Performance Monitoring and Optimization Monitor the performance of software applications, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and performance issues to ensure optimal performance and scalability. This includes using performance monitoring tools to track key metrics, conducting load testing to simulate real-world usage, and optimizing code to improve efficiency. The Engineering Manager will also work with the operations team to ensure that software applications are properly deployed and maintained. Optimized performance and scalability ensure a seamless user experience and efficient resource utilization.

Itll be helpful if you have :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

- 10-14 years of overall experience, with at least 8 years as a data engineer in a production environment and 3+ years leading end-to-end delivery

- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, etc., with 6+ years of hands-on coding experience

- Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines (batch and real-time) and distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark)

- Hands-on experience with data warehousing and data lake architectures (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake) and strong expertise in SQL and data modeling

- Strong experience with AWS services including Kinesis, Athena, Glue, SQS, SNS, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, API Gateway, Lambda

- Experience building resilient, high-performance systems, along with monitoring, observability, and automation practices

- Expertise with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Step Functions), CI/ CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code

- Ability to deeply understand data and business domain, act as a data expert, and translate raw data into meaningful insights; goes beyond infrastructure to interpret, validate, and derive value from data for business and product decisions.
