ABOUT THE ROLE :

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer who leans heavily toward the backend. You will work across the entire stack but spend most of your time designing and building robust APIs, data pipelines, and system architecture that power Merlin's core intelligence platform.

This is a role for someone who takes pride in writing clean, well-structured backend code and is comfortable jumping into the frontend when needed to ship a complete feature end to end.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs

- Work with databases to model, query, and optimize data for performance and reliability

- Build and maintain data pipelines that power real-time operational intelligence features

- Collaborate with the product and design team to implement frontend features using React or similar frameworks

- Write clean, tested, and well-documented code that your teammates can build on

- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decisions

- Debug production issues, improve system reliability, and own your services end to end

- Integrate third-party services and APIs as the product grows

TECH STACK :

You will be working with a modern stack. Familiarity with the following is preferred :

- Backend : Node.js / Python (FastAPI or similar)

- Frontend : React, TypeScript

- Databases : PostgreSQL, and familiarity with NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB)

- Infrastructure : AWS or GCP, Docker, basic CI/CD pipelines

- Version control : Git

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

- 2 to 3 years of professional experience in full stack or backend-focused engineering

- Strong fundamentals in backend development including API design, database modeling, and system design

- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js or Python preferred)

- Working knowledge of React or any modern frontend framework

- Comfort with cloud infrastructure and deploying production services

- A product mindset : you think about the user, not just the code

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal hand-holding

- Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus
