Key Responsibilities:

Technical Delivery & Bug Fixing:

- Bug Fixing & Maintenance: Diagnose, fix and verify defects across React 18, Angular 18.x and AngularJS 1.x front-ends and Node.js 22.x services, prioritising by severity and customer impact.

- Full Stack Development: Design, build and enhance features across the front end and back end, including REST API development and integration.

- Cloud Deployment & Troubleshooting: Deploy, monitor and troubleshoot applications running on AWS EC2, supporting stable releases and quick recovery from incidents.

- Code Quality: Write clean, testable code; follow linting standards and coding best practices; participate in peer code reviews.

Front-End Engineering & Performance:

- React Expertise: Apply React core concepts (Virtual DOM, JSX, rendering lifecycle), component-based architecture, hooks (including useEffect, useLayoutEffect, useMemo, useCallback, useReducer and custom hooks) and patterns such as Compound Components and HOC.

- State & Data Management: Manage application state using Context API, Redux or Zustand, and handle API data using REST integration with React Query / RTK Query.

- Performance Optimisation: Improve application performance through tree shaking, minification, code splitting and lazy loading, and manage build tooling (Webpack, bundling, NPM, Yarn).

- Legacy Application Support: Maintain and enhance AngularJS 1.x applications and contribute to their modernisation where required.

Collaboration & Escalations:

- Issue Escalations: Partner with Support, QA, Product and Engineering teams to investigate escalated issues, perform root-cause analysis and deliver permanent fixes.

- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Document fixes, technical decisions and runbooks, and share learnings with the wider team.

Continuous Improvement:

- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption within the team.

- Understand the limitations of React and the wider stack, and recommend improvements to code quality, tooling and engineering processes.

Key Performance Outcomes:

- Timely Defect Resolution: Resolving bugs across React, Angular, AngularJS and Node.js applications within agreed timelines, with a low rate of reopened or recurring defects.

- Code Quality & Maintainability: Delivering clean, well-reviewed and well-tested code that follows React and Angular best practices and passes linting standards.

- Application Performance: Improving load time and runtime performance through optimisation techniques such as code splitting, lazy loading and tree shaking.

- Reliable Deployments: Ensuring stable releases and healthy applications on AWS EC2, with quick diagnosis and recovery when issues occur.

- Technical Versatility: Working effectively across multiple front-end frameworks and back-end technologies with minimal ramp-up time.

- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintaining up-to-date technical documentation so that fixes and design decisions are easy for others to understand and reuse.
