Technical Lead - Python, React & Cloud Platform Engineering

Role Overview :

We are looking for a technically accomplished lead engineer to shape the engineering direction of business-critical platform applications used by global financial institutions.

This role combines deep Python development expertise with modern frontend engineering, cloud-native design, and end-to-end technical ownership.

The successful candidate will translate complex business requirements into maintainable software solutions, establish sound engineering practices, and guide developers through challenging implementation decisions.

The position requires someone who remains actively involved in coding while taking responsibility for architectural quality, platform scalability, and the technical growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities :

- Platform Engineering : Drive the implementation of enterprise applications using Python-based services, React interfaces, TypeScript, and supporting Node.js components.

- Backend Solution Development : Design robust service layers, asynchronous processing workflows, and RESTful interfaces using Python frameworks such as FastAPI.

- Frontend Engineering : Establish effective component structures, application state patterns, and reusable interface conventions to support complex, data-intensive user experiences.

- Technical Blueprinting : Evaluate system dependencies, define application boundaries, assess design alternatives, and establish architectural patterns that support long-term maintainability.

- Cloud-Native Implementation : Build and improve workloads on AWS, using serverless services where appropriate to address scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency.

- Data Architecture : Develop suitable relational data structures, SQL queries, and data-access approaches that preserve consistency and support efficient application performance.

- Engineering Standards : Set expectations for code quality, automated testing, version control, peer reviews, and continuous integration and delivery practices.

- Technical Mentorship : Coach engineers through design discussions, complex debugging, implementation reviews, and practical knowledge-sharing sessions.

- Delivery Leadership : Work with product owners, business representatives, and engineering stakeholders to break down requirements, assess technical trade-offs, and establish realistic delivery plans.

- Production Readiness : Evaluate application behaviour under load, address performance bottlenecks, and incorporate appropriate security, observability, fault handling, and recovery mechanisms.

- Modernization Initiatives : Identify opportunities to improve existing platform components through architectural refinement, service decomposition, automation, and adoption of suitable cloud capabilities.

- Engineering Risk Management : Identify technical constraints early, communicate dependencies, and guide resolution of issues that could affect delivery timelines or platform stability.

Required Technical Expertise :

- Advanced programming proficiency in Python, with substantial experience building production-grade applications.

- Strong working knowledge of React.js and TypeScript for developing structured, maintainable frontend applications.

- Practical experience with Node.js and FastAPI or comparable Python web frameworks.

- Strong understanding of REST API design, service integration, request validation, exception handling, and API security.

- Expertise in SQL, relational database concepts, schema design, and data modelling.

- Ability to assess system architecture, scalability requirements, component interactions, and engineering trade-offs.

- Hands-on familiarity with AWS services and serverless application development.

- Experience using Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and automated software delivery practices.

- Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, with the ability to resolve complex technical problems.

- Clear communication skills and the confidence to engage with both engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Experience and Leadership Requirements :

- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 7 years of hands-on Python development.

- Demonstrated ownership of significant technical initiatives from solution design through implementation and production release.

- Experience guiding developers, conducting technical assessments, and improving engineering execution across a team.

- Track record of delivering enterprise-grade applications with appropriate attention to reliability, maintainability, and performance.

- Ability to balance individual technical contribution with architectural oversight and team leadership.

- Experience working in enterprise software, financial technology, or other complex business application environments is preferred.

Additional Advantage :

- Experience integrating AI capabilities, large language models, or intelligent automation into production applications.

- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts.

- Knowledge of event-driven design, asynchronous messaging, and loosely coupled application components.

- Exposure to financial services, capital markets, or platforms supporting institutional clients.
