Senior Java Backend Engineer - Karbon

About the Role :

Were seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend Engineer to join our core tech team. In this hands-on role, youll help design, build, and scale mission-critical backend systems that power Karbons fintech solutions used by thousands of businesses daily.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
- Take end-to-end ownership of microservices for payments, credit workflows, onboarding, etc.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless customer experiences
- Optimize performance and reliability with Redis caching, efficient DB design, and robust coding practices
- Write clean, maintainable, and test-driven code (JUnit) in a modern CI/CD environment (Jenkins, Maven, Git)
- Refactor and improve legacy systems for scalability and maintainability
- Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously improve the tech stack

Requirements

Technical Skills

- 5+ years backend development experience in Java (fintech/banking/payments preferred)

- Strong expertise in Core Java, collections, exception handling, and logging frameworks

- Solid experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture

- Proficient in SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis)

- Hands-on with CI/CD tools - Jenkins, Maven, Git

- Familiarity with AWS is a plus

- Strong problem-solving and system design skills

Non-Technical :

- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field

- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
