Job Title : Backend Engineer Ruby on Rails (Strong Database Design)

Role Overview :

Own backend delivery with focus on robust domain modeling, data correctness, and integration reliability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and maintain Ruby on Rails backend services and APIs.

- Own business logic, security controls, and production hardening.

- Design and manage database schemas, migrations, and indexing.

- Ensure transactional integrity and data consistency across systems.

- Build and maintain reliable integrations using APIs, events, and webhooks.

- Implement background jobs and asynchronous processing.

- Support UAT, defect resolution, and stable production releases.

- Collaborate with Product and Business teams on acceptance criteria.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) :

- Stable and scalable backend services in production.

- High data accuracy and consistency across workflows.

- Reliable and auditable integration pipelines.

- Reduced production defects and faster incident resolution.

- Timely and smooth release cycles.

Required Skillsets :

- Strong hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

- Expertise in REST API design and backend architecture.

- Advanced database design skills using PostgreSQL or MySQL.

- Experience with database migrations, indexing, and performance tuning.

- Knowledge of background job processing using Sidekiq or Resque.

- Experience in building event-driven and webhook-based integrations.

- Strong understanding of data correctness and transactional systems.

Preferred Skillsets :

- Experience with Redis and message queues.

- Familiarity with RSpec and automated testing.

- Knowledge of OWASP security practices.

- Experience with idempotent processing and audit logging.

- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools.
