Extreme Networks - Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview :

We are looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join the AI Core group and contribute to the development of advanced AI platforms and solutions across Generative AI, AI Agents, RAG, Knowledge Bases, Data Mining, Anomaly Detection, Graph ML, and LLM fine-tuning.

The role involves designing and building intelligent, high-performance, distributed AI systems that can perceive, learn, and act in real time. The ideal candidate should combine strong machine learning expertise with hands-on software engineering, distributed systems, cloud, and technical leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and Generative AI solutions for networking products and platforms.

- Contribute to AI initiatives including AI Agents, RAG, Knowledge Bases, Data Mining, Anomaly Detection, Graph ML, and LLM fine-tuning.

- Lead the design and architecture of large-scale distributed systems, preferably on cloud platforms.

- Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs for AI/ML platforms and applications.

- Develop production-grade software using Python and modern Python libraries and frameworks.

- Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

- Implement and maintain modern CI/CD practices for ML and software engineering workflows.

- Work with ML technologies and frameworks including PyTorch, SageMaker, Triton, and TensorRT.

- Develop solutions capable of handling large-scale data and optimize workflows for performance and scalability.

- Work with NoSQL and document databases for AI/ML applications.

- Drive performance improvements across distributed systems and ML workflows.

- Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including design, coding, code reviews, testing, builds, deployments, and operations.

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

- Collaborate with highly skilled engineering teams to deliver scalable and high-performance AI solutions.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8 - 14 years of overall experience in software engineering and machine learning.

- 8+ years of experience across the complete software development lifecycle.

- 6+ years of strong hands-on experience with Python, including advanced features and libraries.

- Strong expertise in Machine Learning and Generative AI.

- Experience with Graph ML and Big Data is preferred.

- Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
