Role Overview :
We are seeking a Software Engineer (Data Visual Engineer) with 34 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and supporting AI-driven initiatives within the insurance domain.
In this role, you will transform raw data into meaningful insights through data modeling, dashboards, and analytics, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will primarily work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools such as BigQuery, Looker, and LookML, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BigQuery, Looker, and LookML.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement software solutions using object-oriented principles, design patterns, and testing best practices.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, performance, and reliability across all BI solutions.
- Review peer code with a focus on readability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Integrate BI solutions with third-party APIs (REST and SOAP) using Python.
- Ensure the full analytics stack is designed for security, scalability, and performance.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and data teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives and data governance standards.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation to support design discussions and knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Technical Skills :
- Hands-on experience designing and building BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Looker or similar BI tools.
- Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent tools.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including BigQuery querying and optimization.
- Experience using Python to build applications or automation supporting BI dashboards and reporting workflows.
- Experience developing and managing Looker data models, Explores, and Views.
- Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD pipeline best practices.
- Awareness or exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar.
Soft Skills :
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with a focus on data quality and governance.
