About the Role :
We are looking for a highly skilled Data Governance Engineer to design, implement, and enhance enterprise-wide data governance frameworks.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with metadata management, data lineage, governance policies, cloud data platforms, and compliance standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance frameworks aligned with DAMA best practices.
- Develop and manage metadata repositories, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data lineage.
- Define, monitor, and improve governance KPIs, data quality metrics, and compliance standards.
- Implement and manage governance controls on AWS services, including IAM, S3, Lake Formation, and AWS Glue.
- Develop policy-based access controls using OPA, AWS Verified Permissions (Cedar), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Business teams to establish governance standards.
- Build automation for governance workflows using SQL, Python, and GitHub.
- Support governance initiatives across Snowflake and SQL Server environments.
- Configure and administer enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Atlan, or Alation.
- Create governance dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills :
- 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Engineering, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of Data Governance frameworks (DAMA) and governance best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Metadata Management, Data Lineage, and Data Cataloging.
- Experience defining and tracking Governance KPIs, compliance metrics, and data quality standards.
- Strong expertise in AWS services including :
1. IAM
2. Amazon S3
3. AWS Lake Formation
4. AWS Glue
- Experience with OPA, AWS Verified Permissions (Cedar), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong SQL and Python programming skills.
- Experience with GitHub and version control practices.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with one or more governance platforms :
1. Collibra
2. Microsoft Purview
3. Atlan
4. Alation
- Experience building dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Good to Have :
- Experience implementing Data Contracts.
- Knowledge of modern access control models :
1. RBAC (Role-Based Access Control)
2. ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control)
3. ReBAC (Relationship-Based Access Control)
- Experience working with enterprise data platforms and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile :
- Passionate about data governance, compliance, and data quality.
- Ability to work with cross-functional engineering, analytics, security, and business teams.
- Experience implementing scalable governance solutions in cloud-based environments.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
