Role Overview:
We are looking for a Blockchain Lead / Technical Lead to own the end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of blockchain solutions across permissioned and public networks within capital markets environments.
This role combines deep technical expertise, solution architecture, governance, and hands-on leadership in enterprise-scale, regulated financial infrastructures such as settlement, custody, clearing, and post-trade platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Technical Leadership:
- Lead the architecture and design of blockchain-based solutions for capital markets use cases (e.g. settlement, asset servicing, reconciliation, tokenised assets).
- Define and enforce smart contract standards, patterns, and best practices suitable for regulated financial environments.
- Design privacy, permissioning, and governance models aligned with capital markets regulatory, audit, and operational requirements.
- Own on-chain vs off-chain data strategies, interoperability approaches, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Guide scalability, performance, security, resilience, and upgradeability strategies for high-volume, high-availability systems.
- Review and approve smart contract models, APIs, event-driven integrations, and overall system designs.
Delivery & Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of blockchain engineers delivering capital markets platforms.
- Plan and oversee sprint execution, milestones, and technical deliverables in multi-vendor, regulated environments.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality, security, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Support production readiness, incident resolution, platform upgrades, and long-term evolution.
Security & Governance:
- Drive smart contract security, threat modelling, and technical risk mitigation.
- Establish upgrade governance, access control, identity, and key management practices appropriate for market infrastructures.
- Ensure platforms comply with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and audit controls common to capital markets.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement:
- Work closely with business, product, legal, compliance, and risk stakeholders.
- Translate capital markets business requirements into technical architectures and delivery roadmaps.
- Contribute to solution walkthroughs, client discussions, RFP responses, and technical proposals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical:
- Deep understanding of blockchain architecture, distributed systems, and governance models.
- Proven experience designing and delivering production-grade blockchain platforms.
- Strong expertise in smart contract design, lifecycle management, and security.
- Experience with tokenisation models, digital securities, enterprise assets, or DLT-based workflows.
- Proficiency in Java / Scala ecosystem and at least one smart contract or scripting language.
- Strong experience with cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Solid grasp of cryptography, identity, key management, access control, and consensus mechanisms.
Capital Markets:
- Strong experience in Capital Markets or Financial Market Infrastructure, such as: Securities settlement, custody, clearing, or asset servicing; Post-trade processing and STP workflows; High-volume, time-critical transaction processing.
- Understanding of regulatory, operational, and audit requirements in regulated financial institutions.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with specific DLT platforms such as Canton Network (DAML) or Hyperledger Besu.
- Experience across both permissioned and public blockchains (e.g. Ethereum, Layer 2s).
- Exposure to interoperability or cross-network architectures.
- Background in capital markets, payments, CBDCs, or regulated financial infrastructure.
- Prior experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Manager.
- Cloud or blockchain-related certifications.
- Contributions to open-source blockchain or security initiatives.
