Azure Security Consultant (Azure Security & Data Platforms)

We are currently hiring for an Azure Security Consultant for one of our clients (a leading Software Services/Product Company).

We are looking for experienced Azure Security professionals who are passionate about securing cloud-native data platforms and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Azure Security, Identity & Access Management, cloud governance, and DevSecOps. This role focuses on embedding security throughout the data product lifecycle, performing architecture assessments, and implementing security best practices across Azure-based environments. This role offers above-market compensation along with standard benefits for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with data product owners, architects, and engineering teams to embed Security-by-Design principles throughout the software and data product lifecycle.

- Translate security requirements into actionable user stories, backlog items, and engineering deliverables.

- Align security controls with business objectives and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, NIS2, and NIST.

- Define and refine security-focused user stories covering Identity & Access Management, data protection, logging, monitoring, and network security.

- Support Agile teams during sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and implementation of security initiatives.

- Conduct end-to-end security assessments of Azure data platforms, cloud architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and governance models.

- Identify security gaps, risks, and implementation weaknesses, and recommend practical remediation strategies using Azure-native services.

- Implement and configure Azure security solutions, including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Sentinel.

- Secure Azure data services including Azure Data Lake, Azure Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

- Participate in architecture reviews, security governance discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the organization's cloud security posture.

Required Skills / Primary Skills:

- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Security services and cloud security architecture.

- Deep expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including RBAC, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Conditional Access, and Managed Identities.

- Strong understanding of Network Security, including Network Security Groups (NSGs), Private Endpoints, Virtual Networks (VNets), and secure connectivity.

- Experience implementing data protection strategies, including encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, and secrets management.

- Hands-on experience with Azure Key Vault for managing secrets, certificates, and encryption keys.

- Experience using Microsoft Defender for Cloud for cloud security posture management and threat protection.

- Strong experience with Azure Policy for governance, compliance, and security enforcement.

- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, detection, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Sentinel.

- Experience securing enterprise data platforms including Azure Data Lake, Azure Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

- Experience conducting security reviews, architecture assessments, risk assessments, and security gap analysis.

- Ability to translate security requirements into technical user stories and engineering deliverables.

- Experience working in Agile software development environments.

Additional Skills:

- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and securing Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.

- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep).

- Strong understanding of security and compliance frameworks including NIST, CIS Benchmarks, GDPR, and EU regulatory standards.

- Experience with Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.

- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills.

- Ability to mentor engineering teams and promote cloud security best practices across projects.
