About the Role:

AOSP Automotive HMI Engineer to develop, customize, integrate, and optimize Android-based HMI applications for Automotive IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) systems.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Android AOSP/AAOS, Java/Kotlin, Android Framework, Car APIs, AIDL/Binder IPC, and automotive HMI development. The role involves application development, system integration, debugging, performance optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional automotive engineering teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Develop and customize Android AOSP/AAOS HMI applications for automotive IVI platforms.

- Develop and maintain system applications, vendor applications, and Privileged Applications (Priv-App).

- Implement and manage Android permissions, application lifecycle, and Android.

- Integrate HMI applications with the Android Framework, Middleware, and Vehicle HAL (VHAL).

- Develop and integrate features using Android Automotive APIs and Car Service.

- Work with LiveData, Observer patterns, SharedPreferences, and modern Android application architecture.

- Develop applications using MVP/MVVM architecture and ensure robust, crash-free applications.

- Analyze and resolve application-level and framework-level issues.

- Perform debugging using ADB, Logcat, Android Studio, and Linux tools.

- Optimize application performance, stability, memory usage, and startup time.

- Support complete system integration and validation on automotive platforms.

- Collaborate closely with UX, BSP, Middleware, System, and Vehicle teams.

- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, troubleshooting, and release activities.

- Maintain technical documentation and follow software development and quality processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 3 - 8 years of experience in Android application development, preferably in automotive/IVI.

- Strong programming skills in Java and/or Kotlin.

- Hands-on experience with Android AOSP / Android Automotive OS (AAOS).

- Strong understanding of Android Framework Architecture.

- Knowledge of AIDL, Binder IPC, Android Services, Broadcast Receivers, Content Providers, and Activities.

- Good understanding of Android permissions and Priv-App/System App concepts.

Education:

- B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
