Wi-Fi Chipset Bring-up Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

- Perform Wi-Fi chipset bring-up, integration, and validation on Android-based devices.

- Develop, customize, and debug Wi-Fi drivers and firmware integration.

- Work on the complete Android Wi-Fi software stack, including Framework, HAL, Supplicant, and Driver.

- Integrate and customize wpa_supplicant and hostapd for various Wi-Fi use cases.

- Debug and resolve Wi-Fi connectivity, roaming, throughput, latency, authentication, and stability issues.

- Analyze Android logs, kernel logs, and driver traces to identify root causes and implement fixes.

- Collaborate with Android framework, kernel, firmware, and hardware teams for issue resolution.

- Work closely with chipset vendors and internal engineering teams during product bring-up activities.

- Optimize Wi-Fi performance, power consumption, and reliability.

- Participate in feature development, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration activities.

- Ensure software quality by following coding standards and best engineering practices.

- Support product validation and certification activities.

Required Skills :

- Strong programming experience in C/C++ (Mandatory).

- Good knowledge of Java/Kotlin (Preferred).

- Strong understanding of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) architecture.

- Hands-on experience with Android Wi-Fi framework.

- Good understanding of the Wi-Fi software stack :

1. Android Framework

2. Wi-Fi HAL

3. Supplicant

4. Device Drivers

- Experience working with :

1. wpa_supplicant

2. hostapd

- Strong knowledge of Linux Kernel and Device Driver development.

- Experience in Android BSP customization and debugging.

- Familiarity with AIDL and HIDL interfaces.

- Good understanding of embedded Linux systems.

Networking Knowledge :

- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.

- Experience with :

1. TCP/IP

2. UDP

3. DHCP

4. DNS

5. IPv4/IPv6

- Good understanding of IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi protocols.

- Knowledge of Wi-Fi security protocols such as WPA2/WPA3 is an added advantage.

Debugging & Troubleshooting :

- Hands-on experience in debugging using :

1. Android Logcat

2. Kernel logs (dmesg)

3. Driver-level traces

4. ADB tools

5. Wireshark (Preferred)

6. Performance profiling and system analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience in Android BSP or Platform development.

- Experience working with Qualcomm, Broadcom, MediaTek, or similar Wi-Fi chipsets.

- Exposure to embedded Linux development environments.

- Experience with Git, Gerrit, and code review processes.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

- M.S.

- Specialization in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Instrumentation, or related disciplines.
