Role Description :
The Fabric Data Lead Consultant is a contract role responsible for leading the design, implementation, and governance of data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and related data technologies. This hybrid position is based in India, with a mix of on-site presence at client or Vertex locations and some flexibility for working from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing business requirements, defining data architectures, and leading the development of data pipelines, models, and integrations to support analytics and reporting.
The consultant collaborates closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to ensure data quality, security, and performance across the full data lifecycle. The role also involves mentoring team members, contributing to best practices, creating technical documentation, and participating in client workshops, demos, and solution reviews.
Qualifications :
- Strong experience with modern data platforms and architectures (for example, Microsoft Fabric, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT frameworks).
- Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and working with relational and non-relational data stores.
- Background in analytics and business intelligence, including designing datasets, semantic models, and reports for decision-making.
- Skills in data governance, including data quality, metadata management, security, and compliance practices.
- Experience leading data projects or workstreams, including requirement gathering, solution design, and stakeholder communication.
- Ability to collaborate in hybrid, cross-functional teams and work effectively with global stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft data/analytics certifications) are a plus.
- Prior consulting experience and familiarity with industries such as Consumer Goods & Retail, Insurance, Manufacturing, or Environmental Services are beneficial.
