Purpose :

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to develop and operate Valerie's multi-tenant platform for brand onboarding, market analysis, forecasting, business valuation, document generation, and AI-enabled workflows.

You'll work across a TypeScript monorepo, owning features from React interfaces and shared data contracts through NestJS APIs, PostgreSQL persistence, automated tests, and AWS deployment. This is a hands on engineering role that calls for strong architecture, implementation, debugging, and production ownership skills.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems across the entire stack, takes real pride in shipping production ready systems, and is comfortable owning a feature from design all the way through to what happens after it goes live.

You'll work closely with the wider engineering team to keep the platform reliable as it scales, making pragmatic architecture decisions, and helping raise the bar on how we build, test, and ship.

Accountabilities :

Feature Development & Architecture :

- Design and implement production features across React, NestJS, and PostgreSQL

- Build complex, schema driven forms with validation, autosave, conditional sections, rich text editing, and role-based behavior

- Maintain shared TypeScript and Zod contracts between frontend and backend

- Take technical ownership of features from design through production monitoring

- Ship and integrate AI-enabled product features and workflows, including LLM/model APIs, structured outputs, tool use, retrieval, webhooks, or asynchronous processing.

API & Data Layer :

- Develop well structured REST APIs using NestJS modules, controllers, services, guards, pipes, and interceptors

- Design relational schemas, migrations, indexes, and transactional workflows in PostgreSQL

- Implement authentication and authorization using access tokens, refresh token rotation, and role-based access control.

Infrastructure & DevSecOps :

- Manage and improve production infrastructure across AWS, including ECS/EC2, ALB, RDS PostgreSQL, S3, IAM, and related services.

- Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code tooling.

- Own containerized deployments using Docker and CI/CD pipelines, including secure, repeatable deployment workflows.

- Work with cloud configuration, secrets management, observability, and production security controls.

Quality & Reliability :

- Write unit, integration, and end to end tests for critical business workflows

- Diagnose and resolve application, database, infrastructure, and integration issues using structured logs, metrics, traces, and production evidence.

- Investigate and improve production reliability, observability, deployment safety, and CI/CD security.

- Improve monorepo structure, build performance, CI pipelines, and deployment reliability

Collaboration & Ownership :

- Review code and make pragmatic architecture decisions with the engineering team

- Make independent technical decisions in an environment where requirements evolve quickly

Standards :

- Contribute and collaborate with Product Team members on the development of AI Agents and Valerie's Brands and Investment Growth Platform

Ideal Background :

Qualifications :

- 5 - 8 years of relevant production engineering experience, with substantial ownership of production systems.

- At least 3 years of advanced TypeScript development across both frontend and backend

- Strong knowledge of TypeScript's type system, including generics, discriminated unions, type narrowing, utility types, and strict compiler configuration

- Advanced React experience, including component architecture, hooks, server state management, form performance, and reusable UI patterns

- Proven experience building complex forms with React Hook Form or an equivalent library and schema validation using Zod, Yup, or JSON Schema

- Strong Node.js and NestJS experience, including dependency injection, modular architecture, request validation, guards, interceptors, and exception handling

- Practical REST API design skills: resource modelling, pagination, filtering, versioning, idempotency, and consistent error responses

- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including relational modelling, constraints, transactions, indexes, and query plan analysis

- Experience with Prisma ORM, including migrations and avoiding inefficient query patterns

- Experience with practical cloud and application security controls, including secrets management, secure CI/CD practices, container security, and least-privilege IAM.

- Ability to write effective tests with Jest and browser level tests with Playwright

- Production experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines

- Hands-on AWS production experience covering container deployment and runtime infrastructure, particularly ECS/EC2, ALB, RDS PostgreSQL, S3, IAM, configuration management, and observability.

- Production experience with Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code tooling, including version-controlled and repeatable infrastructure deployments.

- Hands-on experience shipping at least one production AI-enabled feature or workflow involving an LLM/model API, structured outputs, tool use, retrieval, evaluation, guardrails, webhooks, or asynchronous processing. Personal prompting or experimentation alone does not qualify.

- Comfortable integrating with and troubleshooting adjacent Python/FastAPI services; deep ML expertise is not required.

- Ability to independently investigate failures across browser, API, database, and cloud infrastructure layers

- Strong Git skills and experience working through pull requests and technical code reviews

- Experience with Nx or another JavaScript monorepo build system is a plus

- Experience designing or working with multi-tenant SaaS architecture and server-side tenant-level data isolation.

- Experience with performance optimization and observability for distributed applications is a plus

What Success Looks Like (KPIs) :

- Features are strongly typed from database and API contracts through to the React interface

- Authorization and tenant boundaries are enforced on the server, not only in the UI

- Database changes include safe migrations, appropriate constraints, and considered indexing

- Critical workflows have meaningful automated test coverage

- Pull requests are maintainable, reviewable, and supported by clear technical reasoning

- Production issues can be traced through structured logs, metrics, and reproducible evidence

- Services are deployable through automated, repeatable pipelines without manual configuration drift

- Security and reliability gaps are identified proactively and improved through pragmatic, appropriately sequenced engineering work.

- Infrastructure and deployments are reproducible through Infrastructure-as-Code and automated CI/CD pipelines.
