Turno - Java Backend Engineer - Java

What Youll Do :

- Develop secure and scalable REST APIs for fintech web and mobile apps.

- Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to integrate backend systems.

- Work on data processing pipelines using PySpark for large-scale financial data analysis

- Support Python-based backend or scripting tasks as needed.

- Experiment with or integrate generative AI models to enhance product features (chatbots, document processing, fraud detection, etc.) a big plus.

- Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance with financial regulations.

- Optimize databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and implement reliable data models.

- Write tests, perform code reviews, and improve CI/CD pipelines.

Must-Have Skills :

- Strong knowledge of REST API design and implementation.

- Experience with relational databases, SQL, and performance tuning.

- Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD, and cloud deployment (AWS/GCP).

- Understanding of security best practices in fintech (OAuth2, JWT, data encryption).

- Good communication and ability to work independently in a startup environment.

Good to Have :

- Hands-on with PySpark or big data processing frameworks for financial analytics.

- Knowledge of Generative AI models or NLP applications (transformers, GPT, BERT).

- Familiarity with messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

- Exposure to financial compliance standards (e.g, GDPR).
