Job Description

Role: Technical Program Manager Firmware

Work Model: 5 Days Work from Office

Experience: 4-10+ Years

Key Responsibilities:

Firmware Development & Embedded Systems:

- Design, develop, debug, and maintain firmware for IoT and embedded devices.

- Build and optimize firmware for microcontroller-based systems (STM32, ESP32, or similar).

- Troubleshoot hardware-firmware interaction issues involving sensors, power management, connectivity, and embedded peripherals.

- Support firmware flashing, testing, validation, and release processes.

IoT & Telematics Integration:

- Own end-to-end integration of IoT devices with backend systems.

- Implement and manage communication protocols such as MQTT, CAN, UART, BLE, GSM/GPRS, and GPS.

- Debug connectivity issues, OTA firmware updates, and field-deployed device failures.

- Collaborate with hardware and backend teams to ensure reliable telemetry solutions.

Battery Management & Vehicle Systems:

- Work on Battery Management System (BMS) firmware and battery telemetry solutions.

- Develop and maintain custom CAN bus protocol implementations.

- Support battery diagnostics, safety monitoring, and vehicle tracking features.

- Improve asset monitoring and device reliability across deployed systems.

Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Translate business and operational requirements into scalable firmware solutions.

- Partner with product, hardware, backend, and operations teams throughout the product lifecycle.

- Support technical decision-making for embedded and telematics products.

- Mentor team members on firmware and embedded systems best practices.

Testing, Documentation & Process Improvement:

- Establish firmware testing, QA, and monitoring processes.

- Create technical documentation, integration guides, and troubleshooting playbooks.

- Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce dependency on external vendors.

- Drive continuous improvement in firmware quality and deployment reliability.

Must-Have Requirements:

- 5-10+ years of hands-on experience in Firmware or Embedded Systems development.

- Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++ and microcontroller programming (STM32, ESP32, or similar).

- Experience working with IoT hardware, telematics, or connected devices.

- Hands-on knowledge of CAN Bus, MQTT, UART, BLE, GSM/GPRS, and GPS communication protocols.

- Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and custom CAN protocol development.

- Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, sensors, power systems, and connectivity.

- Experience with OTA firmware updates, device provisioning, and fleet-scale device management.

- Ability to independently solve complex embedded and IoT-related technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in EV, Mobility, Fleet Management, IoT, Automotive, or Connected Device companies.

- Exposure to replacing third-party IoT or telematics solutions with in-house platforms.

- Understanding of cloud-based telemetry platforms, device management, and data pipelines.

- Prior experience mentoring engineering teams or leading embedded product initiatives.

- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
