About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced Team Lead - SQL, ETL & Data Warehousing to lead a team responsible for managing data pipelines, ETL processes, database operations, and production support activities.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in SQL, ETL development, Python, and Data Warehousing concepts, along with hands-on experience leading small technical teams and collaborating with business stakeholders.
This role combines technical ownership, team leadership, and client-facing responsibilities.
The candidate will be expected to ensure high-quality delivery, operational excellence, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of data processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 analysts/engineers on technical best practices and delivery standards.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Guide team members on SQL optimization, ETL workflows, debugging, and issue resolution.
- Support onboarding, knowledge sharing, and team capability development.
- Design, develop, monitor, and optimize ETL workflows and data pipelines.
- Manage extraction, transformation, and loading of large datasets from multiple source systems.
- Ensure smooth execution of batch workflows and scheduled jobs.
- Troubleshoot ETL failures, data inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and scripts.
- Perform query tuning and database performance optimization.
- Work extensively with relational databases and data warehouse environments.
- Support database maintenance, troubleshooting, and data reconciliation activities.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing architecture and concepts.
- Work with dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and data marts.
- Support data integration, reporting, and warehouse performance improvements.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues and client-reported incidents.
- Ensure incident resolution within defined SLAs and operational KPIs.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive solutions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution and dependency management.
- Work closely with client stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and issue status effectively.
- Participate in business discussions, requirement gathering, and solution planning.
- Deliver presentations, reports, and technical updates to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks using Python or scripting.
- Improve operational workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Ensure process documentation, SOPs, and technical documentation are maintained.
- Drive quality-focused delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- 4+ to 9 years of professional IT experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in SQL programming (complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning).
- Strong experience in ETL development and support.
- Solid understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and architecture.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data handling.
- Experience with database tools and query optimization techniques.
- Experience managing or mentoring teams of 5-6 members.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Experience in production support and incident management.
- Good understanding of SDLC processes and release cycles
