Role Overview :

The Tableau Support Engineer is a key technical role requiring 37 years of experience, focused on providing advanced support, administration, and troubleshooting for the enterprise Tableau visualization environment.

This role is open Pan India and demands a strong blend of technical expertise, data analysis skills, and excellent communication to resolve issues related to data sources, dashboards, server performance, and user access.

The incumbent will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, performance, and accessibility of critical business intelligence assets.

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Tableau Support Engineer to manage and maintain the organization's Tableau environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in advanced SQL, troubleshooting complex data connectivity issues, and providing end-to-end support for published reports and dashboards. This role requires meticulous problem-solving skills to ensure high availability and optimal performance of the Tableau Server and Desktop instances.

Key Responsibilities and Support Deliverables :

- Technical Troubleshooting : Serve as the primary point of contact for complex technical support issues related to Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and published dashboards/reports.

- Data Source and Connectivity : Troubleshoot data source connectivity issues, data refresh failures, and performance bottlenecks within Tableau workbooks and data extracts.

- Performance Optimization : Analyze and optimize the performance of slow-running Tableau dashboards by advising on data model improvements, efficient query writing, and optimizing Tableau configuration settings.

- Server Administration : Provide administration and monitoring support for Tableau Server, including managing user permissions, site configuration, server maintenance, and patching in coordination with IT/DevOps teams.

- SQL and Data Analysis : Utilize strong SQL skills to validate data integrity, replicate report logic, and assist developers in optimizing the underlying queries that feed Tableau visualizations.

- User Support and Training : Provide technical guidance and support to end-users and developers on best practices for data visualization, report development, and effective use of the Tableau platform.

- Documentation and Knowledge Base : Document troubleshooting steps, known issues, resolutions, and contribute to the internal knowledge base for both technical teams and end-users.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications (Must Have) :

- Experience : 37 years of experience in a technical support, BI development, or data support role.

- Tableau Expertise : Strong hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server environments.

- Data Querying : Expert proficiency in SQL (writing complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning) against relational databases.

- Troubleshooting : Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to data connection, data blending, dashboard performance, and security settings within Tableau.

- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical issues and solutions to non-technical users.

Preferred Skills (Good To Have) :

- ETL Knowledge : Experience with Informatica ETL Tool or similar data integration platforms.

- Alternative BI Tools : Knowledge of other BI/analytics platforms such as Cognos Analytics.

- Experience with cloud data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).

- Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python) for automating administrative tasks or data manipulation.

- Experience with setting up and managing Tableau REST API calls.
