About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join a growing technology team building modern, scalable platforms in the regulatory & life-sciences domain. This role offers the opportunity to work in an agile, globally distributed team and contribute to high-impact product architecture and engineering decisions.

You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership and product teams to design and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical autonomy, ownership, and solving complex backend challenges.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, build, and deploy scalable microservices and distributed backend systems

- Develop secure, high-performance APIs and backend services

- Own end-to-end development including design, coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and DevOps

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices

- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability

- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning

- Maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows

- Contribute to architecture documentation and knowledge sharing

- Work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment across time zones

Required Skills & Experience :

- 7+ years of backend engineering experience

- Strong hands-on experience with Python, FastAPI, Django

- Proven experience designing and building microservices architectures

- Deep experience with AWS (e.g., Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, EKS/Fargate)

- Solid experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/CloudFormation

- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger

- Proficiency in async programming, event-driven systems & messaging patterns

- Strong database skills : PostgreSQL, MySQL (indexing, optimization, schema design)

- Working knowledge of NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB)

- Familiarity with security best practices (authentication, encryption, OWASP)

- Strong version control skills (Git) and modern branching strategies

Preferred Qualifications :

- Exposure to life-science / regulated industry systems

- Familiarity with data privacy frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR)

- Cloud certification (AWS / Azure / GCP)

- Understanding of AI/ML concepts & modern AI-assisted development practices
