Key Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Sybase ASE and Sybase IQ database environments on Linux/Unix platforms.

- Monitor database performance and perform query optimization, index tuning, capacity planning, and performance troubleshooting.

- Execute routine database maintenance activities including database reorganization, DBCC checks, statistics updates, index maintenance, housekeeping, and space management.

- Manage database security by administering users, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing.

- Perform database backup, recovery, restore, and disaster recovery operations using Sybase Backup Server and dump/load utilities.

- Administer large-scale Sybase IQ data warehouse environments with terabyte-scale databases.

- Optimize bulk data loading using BCP, IQ load utilities, and ETL tools.

- Configure, manage, and support high availability solutions including Sybase Replication Server, Warm Standby, MSA, Failover Clustering, and Disaster Recovery environments.

- Automate routine DBA activities using Shell, Perl, or Python scripting.

- Support reporting, business intelligence, analytics, and archival workloads on Sybase IQ.

- Plan and execute database migrations, including on-premises to cloud migrations and cross-platform database migrations.

- Configure and manage Sybase Replication Server for migration and replication requirements.

- Troubleshoot production database issues and participate in on-call support rotations.

- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to ensure database reliability and performance.

Required Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with Sybase ASE and Sybase IQ Database Administration.

- Expertise in database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.

- Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.

- Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

- Hands-on experience with Sybase Replication Server and replication configurations.

- Experience administering large-scale Sybase IQ Data Warehouse environments.

- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.

- Experience with Shell, Perl, or Python scripting for automation.

- Understanding of database security, auditing, encryption, and access management.

- Experience in database migration projects, including cloud migration and cross-platform migrations.

- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.
