Role Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Storage Firmware Embedded Engineer with strong expertise in firmware development for storage devices such as HDDs and SSDs.

The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of storage technologies, embedded systems, and system architecture, along with hands-on experience in designing, developing, debugging, and optimizing high-performance firmware solutions.

The role requires collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable storage products.

Key Responsibilities (KRAs):

- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for HDD, SSD, and storage solutions.

- Develop and optimize firmware modules for Flash Translation Layer (FTL), SAS, and SATA technologies.

- Build and enhance middle-layer and backend firmware components for storage devices.

- Analyze system requirements and translate them into scalable firmware architecture and design.

- Develop efficient algorithms and data structures for high-performance storage applications.

- Perform firmware integration, testing, debugging, and validation across multiple hardware platforms.

- Troubleshoot complex firmware issues and drive root cause analysis for product defects.

- Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

- Participate in product development following industry-standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.

- Prepare and maintain Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) and Software Design Documents (SDD).

- Optimize firmware performance, reliability, and resource utilization.

- Support feature enhancements, maintenance releases, and production issue resolution.

- Contribute to code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

- Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making for next-generation storage products.

- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on firmware development.

Required Skillsets:

- Strong experience in Storage Embedded Firmware development.

- Hands-on experience with HDD Firmware, SSD Firmware, or Storage Firmware.

- Strong expertise in Flash Translation Layer (FTL).

- Excellent understanding of SAS and SATA protocols.

- Experience in middle-layer or backend software development.

- Extensive programming experience in C++.

- Strong programming skills in C for embedded systems development.

- Good knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Programming principles.

- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithm design.

- Experience with system architecture and embedded software design.

- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Shell, or Lua.

- Experience working with industry-standard SDLC methodologies.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation including SRS and SDD.

- Familiarity with Windows or Linux device driver development is an added advantage.

- Experience in the storage domain and embedded product development is highly preferred.

- Exposure to SoC architecture, processor architecture, and hardware interfaces is desirable.

- Experience with MATLAB programming or simulation using C++/MATLAB is preferred.
