SQL Analyst

Job Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented SQL Analyst with strong business and financial acumen to support data validation and reporting accuracy initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of Power BI and Excel-based reports by validating outputs against underlying data and identifying discrepancies.

This role requires a combination of analytical thinking, SQL expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering and Feature Engineering.

Key Responsibilities :

- Validate and evaluate Power BI dashboards and Excel reports by comparing them with existing reporting outputs.

- Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or anomalies in reported data and metrics.

- Query and analyze data from Databricks using SQL to verify the accuracy of report outputs.

- Investigate whether discrepancies arise from :

a. Incorrect dashboard logic, or

b. Data inconsistencies in the source systems.

- Collaborate with developers and data engineers to correct metric calculations and reporting logic where needed.

- Work closely with the feature engineering team to escalate cases where :

- Data supports the output, but business context or results appear incorrect.

- Apply strong business and financial understanding to interpret data trends and validate reporting logic.

- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and alignment across reporting systems.

- Document findings, root causes, and recommended solutions clearly.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- Strong proficiency in SQL (writing complex queries, data validation, debugging).

- Hands-on experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.

- Experience working with Power BI and Excel-based reporting.

- Solid understanding of business processes and financial metrics.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

- Ability to interpret data in a business context and challenge inconsistencies.

- Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Good to Have :

- Experience in data validation, reconciliation, or data quality analysis.

- Exposure to data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

- Familiarity with financial reporting, KPIs, and performance metrics.

- Experience working in Agile or cross-functional team environments.
