Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer - Python Backend to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services. The role involves building robust APIs, developing backend components, optimizing application performance, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable and high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Backend Development:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.

- Build robust, secure, and high-performance backend services and APIs.

- Develop reusable and maintainable code following software engineering best practices.

- Work on application architecture, database integration, and service development.

- Debug and resolve application issues across development, testing, and production environments.

2. API & Service Development:

- Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.

- Integrate internal and external APIs and third-party services.

- Implement authentication, authorization, validation, logging, and error handling.

- Optimize APIs for scalability, performance, and reliability.

- Ensure API documentation and coding standards are maintained.

3. Database & Performance Optimization:

- Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases to design efficient data models.

- Write optimized queries and improve database performance.

- Identify application bottlenecks and implement performance improvements.

- Ensure data consistency, security, and reliability across backend services.

4. Engineering Excellence:

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards.

- Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality.

- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

- Follow Agile development practices and contribute to sprint planning and technical discussions.

- Contribute to CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and deployment processes.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, product managers, and architects.

- Translate business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

- Participate in architecture and design discussions.

- Provide technical estimates and contribute to project planning.

- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 4 - 8 years of experience in software development / backend engineering.

- Strong hands-on experience with Python.

- Experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and backend architecture.

- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

- Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.

- Experience with Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and software development lifecycle.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design principles.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP or other cloud platforms.

- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

- Understanding of message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

- Experience developing distributed and high-volume applications.

- Exposure to system design and scalable architecture.

- Familiarity with observability, logging, monitoring, and performance engineering.
