Position Overview :
The Software Architect - Safety-Critical Systems will define and govern architecture for high-integrity embedded software platforms operating within stringent safety environments.
This role combines architectural leadership, compliance oversight, and cross-functional influence to ensure robust, scalable, and certifiable system design.
The mandate extends beyond technical architecture to include safety lifecycle alignment, risk mitigation, verification strategy support, and stakeholder engagement.
Success will require balancing performance, reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term platform sustainability while guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams through complex delivery challenges.
Key Responsibilities :
- Define and document software architecture for SIL4 safety-critical applications.
- Architect IPC strategies for multicore and high-security RTOS environments.
- Support development of safety lifecycle work products such as FMEA, FTA, and hazard logs.
- Ensure compliance with EN 5012x, EN 50159, SPN/144, and SPN/192 standards.
- Support V&V planning and provide architectural inputs for test strategies.
- Contribute safety case evidence and facilitate architecture reviews.
- Coordinate with design, QA, safety, and customer engineering teams.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and audits.
- Support customer meetings and project status reporting.
Education & Experience Requirements :
- Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.
- Experience : 10+ years in embedded software engineering, including architecture responsibility within safety-critical environments.
- Special : Experience with functional safety frameworks, regulated industries, multicore architectures, real-time operating systems, and large-scale engineering programmes.
