Role Overview :

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Backend who brings strong hands-on coding expertise along with proven experience in leading engineering teams. This role requires ownership of backend architecture, system scalability, and performance for high-traffic applications. The ideal candidate will have experience building and managing systems with significant user base/traffic, while mentoring developers and driving best engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and scale robust backend systems for high-performance B2C applications.

- Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, ensuring code quality and timely delivery.

- Architect scalable and fault-tolerant systems handling high user traffic and concurrency.

- Collaborate with UIUX, frontend, backend, and DevOps teams to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions.

- Build and optimise APIs, services, and microservices architecture.

- Implement caching, queueing, rate limiting, and distributed system patterns.

- Ensure database performance, reliability, and data security.

- Oversee cloud infrastructure and deployment processes on GCP.

- Enforce best practices in security, testing, and code quality.

- Participate in system design discussions, technical decision-making, and roadmap planning.

- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.

- Stay updated with evolving backend technologies and introduce improvements proactively.

Qualifications and Skills :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- 5- 8 years of experience in backend development with strong hands-on coding expertise.

- Proven experience in leading teams and managing production-grade applications with significant user traffic.

Backend & Core Technologies :

- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js

- Experience with frameworks like NestJS and Fastify

- Expertise in PostgreSQL, TypeORM, and Redis

- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and backend architecture

Cloud & Infrastructure :

- Hands-on experience with GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Tasks, Pub/Sub, GCS, IAM)

- Familiarity with deployment pipelines and scalable cloud-native architecture

Authentication & Security :

- Experience with Firebase Admin SDK, JWT, and RBAC

- Strong understanding of security best practices (Helmet.js, CORS, OWASP, input validation)

System Design :

Deep understanding of scalable system design concepts including :

- Caching strategies

- Queues and asynchronous processing

- Rate limiting and throttling

- Dead Letter Queues (DLQ)

- High availability and scaling

Testing & Quality :

- Experience with Jest, Supertest, and test-driven development

- Strong focus on writing clean, maintainable, and testable code

DevOps & Infrastructure Skills :

- Hands-on experience with containerization tools like Docker.

- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure on GCP, including deployment and scaling strategies.

- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring).

- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform preferred).

- Understanding of load balancing, autoscaling, and distributed systems in production environments.

- Exposure to Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools is a plus.

Frontend Awareness (Good to Have) :

- Familiarity with Next.js, React.js, TypeScript, Redux, Tailwind, and modern frontend ecosystems.
