Role Overview:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer specializing in Optical Line Systems and Pluggable NE, you will be at the forefront of developing high-performance software for optical networking hardware. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of hardware engineers, system architects, and firmware developers to design and implement robust software solutions that manage complex optical line systems. Your daily contributions will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and performance of optical transport networks, ensuring seamless integration between hardware components and management software layers.

Key Responsibilities :

- Architect and develop high-performance software modules in C++ to manage optical line system components and pluggable interfaces.

- Design and maintain Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) to ensure seamless communication between low-level hardware drivers and high-level application software.

- Collaborate with system architects to define software requirements for next-generation optical pluggable modules, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

- Develop and execute comprehensive automated test suites using Python to validate software functionality and system stability across various deployment scenarios.

- Optimize embedded system performance by identifying bottlenecks in the software stack and implementing efficient, scalable code solutions.

- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance to foster a culture of high-quality software engineering practices.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in C++ development within complex embedded systems, with a strong focus on memory management and multi-threaded programming.

- Proven ability to design and implement Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) for networking or optical hardware platforms.

- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and building robust testing frameworks to support continuous integration.

- Deep understanding of optical pluggable interfaces and the associated management protocols required for high-speed data transmission.

- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex system-level issues and provide effective, long-term technical resolutions.

- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical designs to stakeholders and collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams.

- Ability to thrive in a flexible work environment, whether operating from our Chennai office or collaborating remotely from anywhere in India.

- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, supported by 8 - 11 years of relevant industry experience.
