Role Overview :

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer (Backend) with strong experience in Django to join our product engineering team. This role is hands-on and focused on building reliable, scalable backend systems. In addition to feature development, you will contribute to creating core foundations for new workflows, conducting code reviews, and supporting the team through technical guidance and grooming.

This is an individual contributor role with technical ownership and influence, not a people management position.

Key Responsibilities :

Backend Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Django

- Build and maintain REST APIs, background jobs, and integration workflows

- Own features end-to-end, from technical design to production support

- Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability

Core Framework & Base Development :

- Contribute to the design and implementation of core modules and base frameworks for new features and workflows

- Build reusable, extensible foundations that other developers can reliably build upon

- Ensure architectural decisions align with long-term product scalability and maintainability

Code Reviews & Quality Assurance :

- Review pull requests across the team to ensure :

1. Correctness and clarity of implementation

2. Adherence to coding standards and best practices

3. Proper error handling and performance considerations

- Provide constructive feedback and guide developers toward better technical solutions

Technical Guidance & Grooming :

- Support junior and mid-level engineers through technical discussions and reviews

- Participate in design and grooming sessions to improve overall engineering quality

- Help establish and reinforce consistent backend development practices

Collaboration :

- Work closely with product, QA, and DevOps teams

- Provide technical input during requirement discussions

- Identify risks early and propose practical solutions

Required Qualifications :

- 47+ years of professional backend development experience

- Strong proficiency in Python and Django

- Solid understanding of :

1. Django ORM

2. RESTful API design

3. Authentication and authorization mechanisms

- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL)

- Familiarity with background processing (Redis or similar)

- Experience working on SaaS or product-based systems

- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures

- Exposure to performance optimization and scaling backend systems

- Familiarity with Redis, message queues, or caching strategies

- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines

- Prior experience mentoring or technically guiding other engineers
