Key Responsibilities :

- Vault Implementation : Design and deploy instance data encryption, column-level encryption (CLE), and contextual access controls.

- Compliance & Auditing : Configure and manage Audit Log Streaming for SIEM integration (Splunk, QRadar) and monitor regulatory mandates (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2).

- Security Architecture : Define enterprise key management strategies, customer-managed keys (CMK), and secure data retention policies.

- Platform Governance : Establish secure CI/CD deployment pipelines, code-signing validation, and vulnerability remediation workflows.

- Cross-Functional Leadership : Guide development teams on secure scripting practices and safe integration patterns (REST/SOAP with OAuth/mTLS).

Required Qualifications and Skills :

- Experience : 8 - 12 total IT years, with 4+ focused strictly on ServiceNow architecture, security, and advanced administration.

- Vault Expertise : Proven deployments utilizing ServiceNow Vault, Instance Data Encryption (IDE), and Platform Encryption mechanisms.

- Core Technical Stack : Advanced JavaScript, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and REST APIs.

- Certifications : ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Risk and Compliance (GRC/IRM) or Security Operations (SecOps), and Certified Technical Architect (CTA) preferred.

- Core Tech : Advanced JavaScript, Glide APIs, REST/SOAP security, Flow Designer, and ATF.

- Vault/Security : Deep understanding of data masking, encryption services, and compliance reporting.

ServiceNow Vault :

ServiceNow Vault integrates natively across the entire platform, but ITSM, HRSD, and CSM each present unique high-risk data vectors that require distinct Vault security strategies.

Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) :

HRSD holds the highest volume of sensitive data and usually requires the most extensive Vault implementation.

- Field-Level Encryption : Protecting highly restricted employee fields such as Government IDs, salary information, and banking routing codes on the sn_hr_core_profile table.

- Data Anonymization : Masking or wiping historical employee data from PII fields when migrating data into non-production sandbox instances for testing.

- Zero Trust Access : Blocking HR case workers from viewing sensitive Employee Relations (ER) cases or disciplinary files if they log in from unapproved networks or unmanaged physical locations.

- Platform Encryption : ServiceNow Vault suite uses strong AES 256-bit standards to protect sensitive business data and help organizations meet compliance goals like GDPR and HIPAA. It includes Cloud Encryption for full database protection and Field Encryption Enterprise for targeted data control.

- Data Privacy Controls : A premium suite of tools designed to discover, classify, and anonymize sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) across workflows, forms, and databases to meet strict compliance mandates.

- Log Export Services (LES) : A turn-key, near-real-time tool that streams system, audit, and application logs from your instance to external security analytics platforms like Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.

- Code Signing : A premium security feature within ServiceNow Vault that uses cryptographic digital signatures and the Key Management Framework (KMF) to validate the authenticity and integrity of scripts and configuration data before execution. It primarily prevents unauthorized or tampered External Communication Channel (ECC) queue records from running on MID Servers.
