Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to enhance, optimize, and scale our existing suite of enterprise dashboards. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Power BI, strong data modeling skills, and hands-on experience integrating analytics solutions with platforms such as Azure DevOps (ADO) and ServiceNow. This role combines technical leadership, dashboard modernization, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver actionable insights for business and technology stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Dashboard Enhancement & Development :

- Review, refactor, and enhance existing Power BI dashboards to improve performance, usability, and visual storytelling.

- Develop advanced DAX measures, data models, drill-throughs, tooltip pages, bookmarks, KPI cards, and custom visualizations.

- Implement role-level security (RLS), incremental refresh, modularized datasets, and enterprise-grade data modeling best practices.

- Ensure dashboards align with business goals and deliver strong clarity, consistency, and executive-level polish.

2. Integration with Azure DevOps :

- Connect Power BI to Azure DevOps datasets, Boards, Pipelines, and Work Item tracking.

- Build automated refresh pipelines for ADO integration using APIs or OData feeds.

- Create dashboards tracking sprint performance, velocity, backlog health, incident trends, deployment metrics, SLAs, and operational flows.

- Collaborate with engineering and PMO teams to design ADO-centric analytics for delivery, release management, and capacity planning.

3. Integration with ServiceNow :

- Build end-to-end integrations between Power BI and ServiceNow via REST APIs, data extracts, or direct connectors.

- Design dashboards for incident, problem, change, request management, SLA compliance, and operational KPIs.

- Implement historical snapshots, trending logic, and flattened data models for performance at scale.

4. Data Engineering & Modeling :

- Clean, transform, and model complex datasets using Power Query (M), DAX, and ETL best practices.

- Work with SQL-based sources such as Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Lakes, and enterprise data warehouses.

- Optimize dataflows, refresh strategies, and dataset storage modes (Import, DirectQuery, Composite).

5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership :

- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions.

- Lead data visualization standards and govern consistency in design, metrics, definitions, and documentation.

- Mentor junior BI developers and contribute to best practices, code reviews, and architectural improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development.

- Expert-level proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and building optimized semantic models.

- Strong experience integrating Power BI with Azure DevOps and ServiceNow.

- Deep knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and relational modeling concepts.

- Hands-on experience with SQL (Azure SQL, SQL Server, Synapse).

- Experience with Power BI Service, gateways, workspace governance, deployment pipelines.

- Ability to translate complex data into intuitive dashboards for business, operational, and executive audiences.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) :

- Experience with Python or Azure Functions for API automation and ingestion.

- Knowledge of Power Automate for workflow-based refreshes or data extraction.

- Experience working in agile environments with ADO boards.

- Familiarity with ITSM processes and metrics in ServiceNow.

- Power BI or Azure certifications (PL-300, DP-500, AZ-900, AZ-204).
