What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
- Organizational Management: Oversee, grow, and structure an engineering and QA organization of 50 to 100+ engineers, including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and individual contributors.
- Delivery Excellence: Establish KPIs, engineering metrics (e.g., DORA metrics), and robust Agile/Scrum processes to ensure predictable, high-quality, and on-time delivery across multiple parallel client projects.
- Talent & Culture: Foster a world-class engineering culture built on innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and technical discipline. Own talent acquisition, performance management, and leadership succession planning.
Technical & Architectural Governance:
- Scaling Systems: Provide strategic oversight for the design, development, and evolution of resilient distributed systems and high-traffic platforms.
- Tech Stack Evolution: Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to keep the organization at the cutting edge of IT consulting and services.
- Quality Assurance & DevOps: Partner with QA and DevOps leaders to drive automated testing pipelines, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and robust cloud infrastructure strategies.
Stakeholder & Business Alignment:
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align the engineering roadmap with overall business objectives, collaborating closely with Sales, Product, and executive leadership.
- Consulting & Client Engagement: Act as a key technical representative during high-stakes client conversations, pitching technical architectures, and ensuring client trust in our engineering capabilities.
Core Competencies & Requirements:
- Experience: 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years of proven success in senior engineering leadership roles (e.g., Director of Engineering, VP, or Head of Engineering).
- Scale Management: Direct experience managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams of 50 to 100+ people.
- Technical Mastery: A foundational background as a principal architect or staff engineer, with a strong track record of building and running large-scale distributed systems or high-traffic platforms.
- Industry Background: Solid experience in the IT Services & Consulting sector, with an understanding of managing billable engineering units and delivering complex solutions for diverse enterprise clients.
- Process Leadership: Deep expertise in Agile frameworks, DevOps practices, cloud native architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), and modern microservices frameworks.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Able to bridge the gap between complex engineering concepts and business metrics.
