Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Analyst to join a Finance Data Office (FDO) team. This is a data-intensive role requiring a strong analytical mindset combined with data architecture thinking. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with complex finance datasets, identifying trends and anomalies, and translating insights into actionable outcomes for Finance leadership.
This role requires hands-on expertise in SQL, modern data platforms, and BI tools, along with the ability to work independently with both business and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Data Analysis & Insights :
- Perform deep-dive analysis on finance datasets including revenue, expenses, margins, accruals, rebates, allocations, and close/reporting data.
- Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and key business drivers.
- Build and maintain KPI frameworks and standardized golden metrics across reports and dashboards.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and explain MoM/QoQ variances, including reconciliations across multiple data sources.
- Deliver executive-ready insights and narratives for dashboards and finance reviews.
Data Mindset (Analyst + Architect) :
- Understand end-to-end data lineage across systems and define source-to-target mappings, data models, and transformation logic.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to design curated datasets and semantic layers optimized for BI and analytics consumption.
- Define and enforce data quality rules and controls, including completeness, accuracy, timeliness, reconciliation checks, and exception reporting.
- Document business logic, definitions, and assumptions through data dictionaries and metric catalogs.
Collaboration & Delivery :
- Work closely with Finance stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify business logic, and iterate quickly on solutions.
- Support UAT, user training, and change management to drive dashboard adoption.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and auditability through proper access controls, documentation, and traceable logic.
Required Qualifications :
- 8+ years of experience in data analytics, BI, or finance analytics roles (enterprise-scale environments preferred).
- Advanced SQL expertise, including complex joins, window functions, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts such as dimensional modeling, fact/dimension tables, and star schemas.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or Tableau, including dashboard design, performance tuning, and usability best practices.
- Experience working with modern data platforms and warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Synapse).
- Proven experience managing data quality, reconciliation, and controls in finance reporting environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex data insights to senior business leaders.
Good to Have (Preferred) :
- Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or PySpark for large-scale data analysis.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as ADF, Airflow, dbt, Informatica, etc.
- Knowledge of data governance and metadata management practices (catalogs, lineage, metric definitions).
- Familiarity with financial close, reporting processes, and regulatory reporting concepts.
- Experience building reusable semantic models and certified datasets for enterprise BI.
