Roles & Responsibilities :
BSP & Driver Development :
- Design, develop, and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs) for custom target hardware platforms.
- Write, debug, and optimize low-level Device Drivers (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, GPIO, Ethernet, and Display drivers).
- Conduct initial Board Bring-up activities on early prototype hardware, working closely with hardware design teams.
System Software & RTOS Integration :
- Configure, customize, and optimize Linux kernels and bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot) for embedded platforms.
- Develop firmware and real-time applications using Generic RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Zephyr) or bare-metal environments.
- Optimize system boot times, power management, and overall system performance/footprint.
Debugging & Testing :
- Troubleshoot complex hardware-software integration issues using hardware debugging tools like JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Implement secure boot, system recovery, and firmware update (OTA) mechanisms.
Technical Skills :
Mandatory Skill Sets :
- Combination A: Proficient in C Programming AND Linux Device Driver development.
- Combination B: Proficient in C Programming AND Board Bring-up on Linux environments.
Desired Embedded & RTOS Competencies :
- Strong foundations in generic RTOS operating systems, task scheduling, synchronization primitives (mutexes, semaphores), and memory management.
- Solid understanding of computer architecture (ARM, x86, or RISC-V) and memory maps.
- Familiarity with building embedded Linux distributions using build systems like Yocto Project or Buildroot.
- Experience reading hardware schematics and datasheets.
Soft Skills & Qualifications :
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded software development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose low-level hardware/software anomalies.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software teams.
