Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Multimedia Engineer with a strong focus on the Android Camera and Audio stacks. In this role, you will work across the entire Android multimedia pipeline from low-level kernel driver bring-up to high-level framework APIs. You will be responsible for hardware bring-up, multimedia framework customization, and optimizing audio/video streaming pipelines.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Camera & Audio Hardware Bring-Up :
- Perform end-to-end Camera and Audio bring-up on new hardware platforms.
- Develop and configure low-level drivers using V4L2 (Video4Linux) and the ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) framework.
- Collaborate with image quality teams to assist with Camera Tuning and sensor calibration.
Android Multimedia Framework Development :
- Design, implement, and maintain custom solutions within the Android Multimedia Framework (including Stagefright, OpenMAX (OMX), Audio Flinger, and Audio HAL).
- Develop and optimize solutions using Camera HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) and Camera2 API.
- Work seamlessly across native layers (C/C++) and application layers (Java) using JNI to expose multimedia capabilities.
Streaming & Protocols :
- Implement and optimize multimedia streaming protocols such as RTP, RTSP, and Wi-Fi Display (Miracast).
- Integrate and optimize audio/video codecs to improve latency, throughput, and power consumption.
Technical Skills & Qualifications :
Mandatory Requirements :
- Experience : 3+ years of professional experience in embedded multimedia or Android systems development.
- Core Languages : Strong proficiency in C and C++, along with solid working knowledge of Java.
- CS Fundamentals : Deep understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms.
- OS Environment : Direct, hands-on experience working within the Android Operating System internals (Framework and HAL layers).
- Domain Focus : Proven experience or a strong readiness to work heavily in the Android Multimedia domain (specifically covering audio, video, and camera pipelines).
Good to Have / Preferred Skills :
- Familiarity with DSP (Digital Signal Processor) programming and Audio/Video codec optimization.
- Knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
- Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, TensorFlow, and Neural Networks, particularly applied to computer vision or smart audio.
