Job Role : Rust Engineer - AWS & Microservices

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop and maintain scalable microservices and APIs using Rust.

- Build REST and gRPC services using frameworks such as Tokio, Axum, Actix Web or equivalent.

- Develop robust domain logic, API validation, error handling, persistence, caching and messaging components.

- Implement asynchronous and concurrent applications using Rust async/await and Tokio.

- Integrate Rust applications with AWS services including S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora and Secrets Manager.

- Develop container-ready applications suitable for AWS EKS, ECS and Fargate environments.

- Implement application health checks, readiness checks, graceful shutdown and production-ready configuration management.

- Develop structured logging, metrics and distributed tracing using Rust tracing, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch and/or AWS X-Ray.

- Write comprehensive unit, integration, API/contract and component tests.

- Maintain code quality using Cargo, rustfmt, Clippy and automated CI/CD quality gates.

- Troubleshoot application issues related to latency, CPU, memory, I/O, asynchronous contention and network performance.

- Analyze and improve application performance using tools such as Criterion.rs, flamegraphs, perf and APM platforms.

- Design resilient services using timeouts, retries, exponential backoff, jitter, circuit breakers, idempotency and failure isolation.

- Build scalable and highly available services using stateless architecture, asynchronous processing and appropriate AWS scaling mechanisms.

- Participate in production support, incident analysis, RCA and performance optimization.

- Follow secure coding practices and contribute to security reviews, vulnerability remediation and dependency governance.

- Collaborate with Architecture, QA, DevOps/SRE, Cybersecurity, Product and Operations teams.

- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, release readiness and technical mentoring.

Required Experience :

- 5+ years of software engineering experience.

- Strong hands-on production experience with Rust.

- Strong backend/systems programming fundamentals.

- Experience developing cloud-native microservices and APIs.

- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.

- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and distributed systems.

- Good understanding of software testing, observability, performance and secure development practices.
