Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric & Power BI to design, develop, and optimize modern data platforms and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, Power BI, and ETL/ELT development, with experience building scalable data pipelines, implementing data warehousing solutions, and delivering actionable business insights through reporting and dashboards. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to create robust, secure, and high-performing data solutions that support enterprise-wide decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Engineering & ETL Development:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric.

- Build and manage custom Python-based data ingestion and transformation frameworks.

- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading.

- Implement data ingestion pipelines from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, cloud services, and flat files.

- Work extensively with Fabric Notebooks using SQL and Python for data processing and analytics.

- Develop and manage Dataflows Gen2, Data Pipelines, and OneLake-based solutions.

- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and reliability.

2. Data Warehousing & Architecture:

- Design and maintain enterprise data warehouse solutions using fact tables, dimension tables, and star schema models.

- Implement and manage Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) for scalable analytics.

- Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and compliance across the data ecosystem.

- Create and maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and version control practices.

3. Business Intelligence & Reporting:

- Integrate and prepare datasets for Power BI reporting and analytics.

- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards using Power BI.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into actionable analytics solutions.

- Create automated workflows and business processes using Power Automate.

4. Collaboration & Governance:

- Partner with business teams to understand data requirements, KPIs, and reporting needs.

- Support data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.

- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Skills:

- Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and its ecosystem.

- Proficiency in SQL for data modeling, querying, and performance optimization.

- Hands-on experience with Python for ETL/ELT development and automation.

- Experience working with Fabric Notebooks, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, and OneLake.

- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and Medallion Architecture.

- Expertise in Power BI dashboard development and data visualization.

- Experience with Power Automate workflow creation and automation.

- Knowledge of API integrations and modern data ingestion frameworks.

2. Preferred Skills:

- Experience in Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences domains.

- Exposure to clinical, commercial, sales, or regulatory datasets.

- Understanding of GxP, HIPAA, and data compliance standards.

- Experience building real-time or streaming data pipelines.

- Knowledge of CI/CD practices, DevOps methodologies, and deployment automation.

- Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Engineer, or related Microsoft certifications.

Education:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Experience:

- 5-10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, or related roles.

- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale analytics and reporting solutions using Microsoft technologies.
