Role Overview:
As a Power Management Firmware (PMFW) Engineer specializing in BIOS, you will be at the heart of optimizing system-level efficiency for next-generation computing platforms. Your day-to-day involves architecting, developing, and debugging complex firmware solutions that govern how hardware interacts with power states. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional silicon design, thermal engineering, and OS kernel teams to ensure seamless power transitions and thermal stability. By driving innovation in power management, you directly influence the battery life, performance-per-watt, and overall reliability of high-end systems, delivering a superior user experience for our global customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust power management firmware within the UEFI/BIOS environment to ensure optimal hardware-software coordination.
- Develop and maintain ACPI tables and power state transitions to enable efficient energy consumption across diverse operating systems.
- Debug complex firmware-level issues by performing deep-dive analysis of system logs and hardware traces to resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with silicon validation teams to define power-up sequences and thermal mitigation strategies that meet stringent platform requirements.
- Optimize firmware code for memory footprint and execution speed to ensure high-performance responsiveness during system boot and runtime.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in C programming within resource-constrained embedded environments, with a deep understanding of hardware-software interfaces.
- Proven ability to navigate and modify UEFI/BIOS architectures, specifically focusing on power management flows and ACPI specifications.
- Strong analytical mindset to troubleshoot low-level system issues, paired with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Exceptional collaborative skills to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site environment in Bangalore, working alongside global engineering teams.
- A solid foundation in computer architecture, typically supported by a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- High adaptability to evolving hardware specifications and a proactive approach to solving complex integration challenges in a professional team setting.
