Build What Matters at Model N :
At Model N, we help life sciences companies solve complex revenue challenges so they can operate smarter and bring important innovations to market faster. We are looking for people who like practical problem solving, cross-functional work, and seeing the impact of what they build.
If you are energized by platform architecture and developer experience, the opportunity to lead a team of product managers through a major platform consolidation, and working across engineering, product lines, and GTM to establish the foundation that all of Model N's products rely on - this could be a great fit.
About the Role :
We are looking for a Director of Product Management to lead the Platform Engineering product organization. In this role, you will manage a team of 4 - 5 platform product managers, own the strategy and roadmap for core platform capabilities, and drive adoption of shared services across Model N's product lines. You will work closely with engineering leadership, architecture, product line leaders, and GTM to establish the platform foundation that enables rapid product innovation and customer extensibility.
This role matters because Model N is consolidating its portfolio onto a single modern cloud platform and embedding AI across the revenue lifecycle. The platform itself has become our most important competitive asset. Your team will own the shared capabilities - data model, identity and security, workflow, APIs, integration, observability, and AI services - that determine how fast product teams can build, how easily customers can extend, and how well the entire system performs in the most regulated commercial environments in the world. You will lead the team that makes platform strategy real.
What You'll Own :
- Platform product strategy & execution : Own the strategy and roadmap for core platform services - data model, identity/security, workflow, configuration, extensibility/APIs, integration, observability, and shared AI/intelligence capabilities. Partner with engineering leadership and the CPO to establish multi-year direction and quarterly execution plans.
- Team leadership and PM development : Build and lead a team of platform product managers, assigning clear ownership by service area, establishing career paths, and instilling strong platform-as-a-product thinking across the group. Coach your team to influence product lines and engineering partners as peer stakeholders.
- Developer & customer extensibility : Drive the APIs, integration framework, and configuration experience that let customers, SIs, and partners extend the platform. Work with your team to establish platform consumption metrics and make clear the value of shared services versus point solutions.
- Non-functional requirements & compliance : Champion performance, scalability, reliability, security, and compliance as first-class product requirements for our regulated life-sciences and high-tech customers. Ensure your roadmap includes investment in these areas and that trade-offs are transparent.
- Cross-product operating model : Establish the intake, prioritization, and governance by which product lines request and consume platform capabilities. Resolve cross-product contention fairly and defensibly; make trade-offs visible to the broader organization.
- Alignment across functions : Drive alignment between product line leaders, engineering, architecture, and GTM on platform priorities and messaging. Ensure the platform enables product teams to move fast and customers to succeed.
What Success Looks Like :
1. In the first 90 days, you will :
- Build deep understanding of the current platform architecture, roadmap, and constraints : learn the technical landscape, understand which platform capabilities are already shared and which are duplicated, and identify where the biggest friction points live.
- Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders : engineering leadership, product line leaders, the CPO, and architecture. Understand their priorities and pain points.
- Assess your inherited team : understand each PM's strengths, career aspirations, and fit for their service area. Identify where you need to uplift capability or reshape ownership.
- Identify quick wins : map areas where shared platform investment will have immediate impact for product lines (reduced time-to-build, faster feature delivery, better customer outcomes).
2. Over the first 6 - 12 months, you will :
- Deliver a clear platform strategy and roadmap : articulate multi-year direction for key platform services; align product-line leaders and engineering behind prioritization; publish a quarterly roadmap with transparent trade-offs.
- Drive adoption of shared AI/intelligence services : work with your team to ensure at least two product lines are consuming shared AI capabilities rather than building redundant solutions.
- Reduce time-to-build for product teams : instrument and measure the impact of platform investments on feature delivery velocity; demonstrate clear ROI on shared infrastructure.
- Establish a functioning prioritization model : institute a transparent process for platform intake, and resolve 80%+ of product-line requests without ELT escalation.
- Grow your team capability : ensure each PM is delivering impact in their service area, has a clear career plan, and is viewed as a trusted peer by product line and engineering partners.
How You Will Grow and Make an Impact :
At Model N, our competency model helps us talk about growth, impact, and how work gets done.
- People Leadership - You actively develop talent and build capability across your team
- Problem-Solving Leadership - You scale effective problem-solving practices across teams and resolve complex challenges that span multiple groups
- Thought Leadership - You connect insights across teams and influence priorities through forward-thinking perspectives
- Entrepreneurial Leadership - You lead innovation and transformation across teams
- Operational Leadership - You optimize team operations and improve performance at scale
- AI Leadership - You integrate AI into team workflows and scale repeatable usage patterns
We do not expect every person to be perfect in every area. We look for strong fundamentals, curiosity, ownership, and the ability to keep growing.
Qualifications :
Required :
- 10+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years actively leading and developing PM teams.
- Significant experience owning platform, infrastructure, or shared-services products - not only end-user applications or single features.
- Proven track record taking a multi-product organization onto a common platform : re-platforming, product consolidation, or transitioning to a platform-as-a-product model.
- Deep fluency in APIs, data architecture, integration patterns, and extensibility; able to engage architects and engineers as a credible technical peer.
- Experience in enterprise B2B SaaS, ideally serving large, regulated enterprises; life sciences and/or high-tech domain knowledge is a strong plus.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence multiple product lines and engineering teams around shared priorities; comfort saying no constructively.
- Outcome- and metrics-driven mindset; comfortable making trade-offs with incomplete information and defending decisions with data.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop product managers; investment in team growth and career development.
- Strong communication skills - able to translate technical complexity into clear business narratives for executives, product partners, and engineering teams.
- Experience operating in India-based or India-centric organizations, or comfort building distributed teams across timezones.
Preferred :
- Prior experience in revenue management, pricing, CPQ, contracts, channel, or compliance domains.
- Familiarity with composable architectures, event-driven platforms, or ecosystem/marketplace strategies.
- Experience leading platform or infrastructure product organizations through scaling phases.
- Track record of building and mentoring PMs who have advanced to leadership roles.
- Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities integration and how to think about AI investment in platform strategy.
- Prior experience building developer ecosystems, partner channels, or extensibility frameworks.
If you do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We care about strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the perspective you bring.
How We Work :
Our values - DREAM, ALIGN, RESPECT, and EXCEL - shape how we work together.
- We solve practical problems that matter to our customers and teams.
- We work across functions and value clear, respectful communication.
- We recognize good work and support growth over time.
- We are curious about better ways to work, including thoughtful use of AI and modern tools.
