Position Overview :

Were seeking a Lead Python Engineer to drive the backend modernization of a large-scale Insurance Policy & Claims Management Platform.

You will lead the migration from a legacy PHP/Laravel environment to a robust, modern Python-based architecture, working closely with both internal teams and client engineering stakeholders.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while leading by example and collaborating directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership :

- Lead the end-to-end migration of backend services from PHP/Laravel to Python.

- Architect, design, and deliver scalable REST APIs to support a React/TypeScript frontend.

- Define the technical roadmap, system design, and migration strategy.

- Oversee data migration, maintain API compatibility, and ensure zero downtime during rollout.

Client Collaboration :

- Serve as the primary technical liaison with the clients engineering team.

- Participate in client meetings to review progress, discuss technical challenges, and propose solutions.

- Clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.

- Align architecture decisions and milestones with client expectations.

Development & Integration :

- Build high-performance backend services using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.

- Collaborate with frontend and DevOps teams to ensure smooth integrations and deployments.

- Implement authentication, authorization, and data validation best practices.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and performance optimization.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 7+ years of hands-on Python development experience with modern frameworks (FastAPI, Django, or Flask).

- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).

- Proven experience in designing and deploying RESTful APIs.

- Practical experience with testing frameworks (pytest, unittest) and CI/CD tools.

- Prior success leading migration or large-scale refactoring initiatives.

Client-Facing Expertise :

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

- Experience working directly with clients or cross-functional technical teams.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Bonus Skills :

- Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Knowledge of microservices, asynchronous programming, or message queues.
