Lead - IT Infrastructure & Microsoft 365 Administrator

Role Overview:
- We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure & Microsoft 365 Administrator to own and manage the organization's IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365 environment, endpoint management, and security.
- The role will be responsible for ensuring that our employees have secure, reliable, and efficient access to the systems, applications, and infrastructure they need to work effectively.
- The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience across Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, endpoint security, networking, firewalls, VPNs, and IT asset management.
- This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical troubleshooting skills as well as the ability to independently manage IT operations, vendors, security controls, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IT Infrastructure & End-User Support:
- Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including desktops/laptops, operating systems, printers, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 systems, applications, hardware and peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Provide timely technical support to employees through the IT helpdesk/ticketing system.
- Manage user onboarding, offboarding, and IT access requirements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, SOPs, and IT support processes.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of critical IT infrastructure.
2. Microsoft 365 Administration:
- Administer and manage the organization's Microsoft 365 environment.
- Manage users, groups, roles, permissions and access through Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Configure and administer: Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licenses, subscriptions, and utilization.
- Configure and troubleshoot email, mailboxes, distribution groups, shared mailboxes and related services.
- Implement and maintain Microsoft 365 security and compliance policies.
- Monitor the Microsoft 365 environment and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Manage identity and access controls, including MFA, Conditional Access, and role-based access.
3. Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Management:
- Administer Microsoft Intune for Windows and mobile device management.
- Enroll, configure, and manage corporate devices through Intune.
- Create and maintain device compliance, configuration, and security policies.
- Manage application deployment, updates, restrictions, and configurations.
- Implement and manage Windows Autopilot for device provisioning, where applicable.
- Enforce security baselines and endpoint configuration standards.
- Configure Conditional Access policies based on user, device and compliance status.
- Monitor device compliance and remediate non-compliant devices.
- Generate and maintain endpoint management and compliance reports.
- Manage mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM).
4. IT Security & Data Protection:
- Implement and maintain endpoint and access security controls across the organization.
- Manage and monitor Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
- Configure and maintain endpoint security policies and controls.
- Work with Microsoft security tools such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, where applicable.
- Monitor security alerts and investigate potential security incidents.
- Support incident response, investigation, and remediation of IT/security incidents.
- Maintain appropriate security controls for employee devices, applications, and access to corporate resources.
- Ensure IT practices comply with applicable data protection, security and internal policies.
- Regularly review access permissions, endpoint compliance, and security configurations.
5. Network & Infrastructure Administration:
- Manage and maintain the organization's LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet infrastructure.
- Configure and manage firewalls.
- Configure and troubleshoot network routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and connectivity issues.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security.
- Maintain appropriate network segmentation and access controls.
- Coordinate with internet service providers and other infrastructure vendors.
- Ensure secure and reliable connectivity for employees working remotely.
6. IT Asset & Vendor Management:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software, licenses, and IT assets.
- Manage the complete IT asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Evaluate hardware and software requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Manage IT procurement and ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
- Track software licenses, renewals, warranties, AMC/maintenance agreements, and subscriptions.
- Negotiate with vendors and ensure service levels are maintained.
7. IT Policies, Documentation & Compliance:
- Develop, implement and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure, systems, configurations, and security controls.
- Ensure appropriate controls for user access, device management, data protection, and IT security.
- Support internal and external IT/security audits.
- Maintain appropriate records and evidence relating to IT security and compliance.
Key Skills & Technical Expertise:
- Microsoft 365 Administration, Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Management, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Conditional Access & MFA, Windows 10/11 Administration, Windows Server administration, Microsoft Defender / Endpoint Security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Firewall administration, LAN / WAN / Wi-Fi / VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and basic network troubleshooting, IT asset management, Hardware and software procurement, Vendor management, IT security and incident management, Helpdesk / IT service management.
Desirable Experience:
- Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) or relevant Microsoft security/endpoint certifications.
- Experience managing a predominantly remote/hybrid workforce.
- Experience with Windows Autopilot and device lifecycle management.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender and Microsoft security/compliance tools.
- Experience implementing or managing DLP and endpoint security solutions.
- Experience supporting IT/security audits and compliance requirements.
- Experience working in a 300+ employee organization.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field (B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc./MCA or equivalent).
- Relevant professional certifications will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant IT infrastructure, systems administration, and/or IT operations experience.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365 and endpoint environments.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing IT infrastructure and security for a mid-sized organization.
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong hands-on technical capability rather than purely managerial experience.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex IT and infrastructure issues.
- Strong understanding of IT security and endpoint management.
