Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of platform software for high-performance Ethernet switching systems.
- Work on platform subsystems including chassis/line-card services, Ethernet interfaces, optics, and hardware/software integration.
- Implement and integrate software components within JunOS or Junos Evolved, following established architectural and coding practices.
- Develop and debug low-level system software across hardware, firmware, and OS layers.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, hardware/firmware teams, and test teams to troubleshoot issues and improve system reliability and performance.
- Support root-cause analysis of integration and production issues and contribute to fixes and long-term platform hardening.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested C/C++ code.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate design, coding, debugging, testing, and documentation while validating outputs and protecting sensitive information.
- Document implementation details, interfaces, debugging findings, and technical decisions.
Key Skills:
- Strong foundation in C/C++, including data structures, APIs, memory management, and debugging.
- Basic understanding of Linux/FreeBSD internals, operating systems, processes, threads, and concurrency.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet and basic networking/switching concepts.
- Familiarity with system-level debugging and tools such as GDB, Git, compilers, logs, and packet/networking tools.
- Understanding of hardware/software integration and interfaces such as PCIe, SPI, I2C, FPGA/CPLD.
- Ability to read hardware/firmware documentation and translate requirements into software.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with an interest in debugging cross-layer system issues.
- Ability to work effectively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- AI-first engineering mindset with consistent use of AI-assisted tools across problem solving, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a habit of documenting technical decisions and findings.
