Optical Transmission & Packet Network Engineer | UK

IPGS is looking for an experienced Optical Transmission & Packet Network Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience to join our team.

DWDM, Ciena 6500, Waveserver 5

Key Responsibilities :

- Design & Documentation: Create and maintain transmission and packet network solutions, ensuring scalability and reliability.

- Provisioning & Configuration: Provision, configure, and test network elements across optical 6500 networks.

- Service Activation: Support customer service activation, implementation, and network upgrades.

- Capacity Management: Manage network capacity, disconnects, and capacity reallocation.

- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation and network records.

- Standards Compliance: Ensure designs and implementations meet technical and industry standards.

- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network and provisioning issues efficiently.

Key Skills & Experience :

- DWDM Expertise: Extensive optical transmission / DWDM experience.

- Ciena 6500: Strong hands on experience with Ciena 6500 platforms.

- Optical Technologies: Knowledge of DWDM, ROADM, Flexgrid, and photonic layer technologies.

- Packet Networks: Understanding of L2/L3 operator networks; BGP/MPLS knowledge advantageous.

- Test Equipment: Experience with optical test equipment and performance monitoring.

- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

- Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
