Key Responsibilities :
- Design, configure, integrate, and support IoT solutions connecting physical devices to enterprise applications and cloud platforms.
- Work at the IoT application layer, understanding how devices communicate with application servers using protocols such as MQTT.
- Configure and manage IoT endpoints including :
1. Occupancy sensors
2. Air quality monitors
3. Smart lighting systems
4. CCTV systems
5. Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Manage the complete IoT device lifecycle, from device onboarding and configuration through firmware updates, certificate management, monitoring, and decommissioning.
- Support device-to-cloud communication, application integration, data flows, and troubleshooting across the IoT ecosystem.
- Work across OT and IT environments, ensuring seamless integration between operational technology systems and enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Work with industrial and building automation protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, and BACnet.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, engineering, facilities, and application teams.
- Participate in security architecture reviews, structured change-control processes, and multi-team approval workflows.
- Ensure IoT deployments meet enterprise security, reliability, scalability, and compliance requirements.
- Troubleshoot device connectivity, protocol, configuration, application integration, and lifecycle-management issues.
- Contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of IoT deployment and device-management processes.
Essential / Non-Negotiable Skills :
- Strong hands-on experience in IoT application-layer engineering and device-to-cloud integration.
- Strong understanding of how IoT devices communicate with application servers, with MQTT as a primary protocol.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing IoT devices at the device/application layer, rather than only managing the underlying network infrastructure.
- Experience with IoT endpoint/device lifecycle management, including device onboarding, configuration, firmware upgrades, certificate lifecycle management, monitoring, and decommissioning.
- Experience working across OT/IT convergence environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IoT architecture, device communication, application integration, and data flows.
Preferred Experience :
- Candidates from the following backgrounds are strongly preferred: Smart Building / Building Automation / BMS, Industrial IoT (IIoT), OT/IT integration, Enterprise IoT deployments, IoT companies where device-to-cloud engineering is a core function, and IoT solutions deployed within financial services or other regulated environments.
Good-to-Have Skills :
- Experience with Modbus, OPC-UA, and BACnet.
- Experience with building automation systems and smart building platforms.
- Experience with IoT security, certificates, device identity, and secure device communication.
- Exposure to cloud-based IoT platforms and enterprise application integration.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as Financial Services, Pharmaceutical / GMP, Government, or other highly regulated industries.
Regulatory & Governance Experience :
- The candidate should be comfortable working within structured enterprise governance environments, including change control and release management, security architecture review processes, risk and compliance assessments, multi-team technical approval workflows, and enterprise security and technology standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile :
- The strongest candidates will come from Smart Building, Building Automation, Industrial IoT, or enterprise IoT organizations where they have directly worked on the device-to-cloud/application integration layer.
- Candidates whose experience is limited to network infrastructure, connectivity, or traditional IT infrastructure without hands-on IoT device/application integration would not be suitable for this role.
