Role Overview :
The depth of expertise required in Okta implementation and architecture is the key focus area for this role. An IAM Engineer (Okta SME) designs, implements, and manages enterprise identity platforms, Single Sign-On (SSO), and lifecycle workflows using Okta.
Mandatory Skills & Experience :
- 8+ years of dedicated Okta experience, with a minimum of 4+ years working as an Okta SME.
- Strong Okta fundamentals with extensive implementation experience.
- Hands-on expertise in Okta FastPass implementation and customization.
- Experience in building and delivering POCs for custom FastPass requirements.
- Strong implementation experience with Adaptive MFA and Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Good understanding of integrating Okta with security and monitoring tools for reporting and governance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Okta Workflows.
- Okta Certification is mandatory/preferred.
Key Responsibilities :
Architecture & Integration :
- Own the Okta Workforce or Customer Identity Cloud environment, designing scalable Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) integrations.
Federation Protocols :
- Implement and troubleshoot identity federation standards including SAML 2.0, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SCIM, and LDAP.
Workflow Automation:
- Build and maintain automated provisioning, de-provisioning, and Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML) processes via Okta Workflows.
Advanced Security:
- Configure adaptive, risk-based access policies, passwordless authentication (FastPass), and continuous authentication mechanisms.
Governance & Compliance:
- Enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), assist with access certifications, and align operations with security frameworks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Core Tech: Deep knowledge of Okta Identity Engine (OIE), directory services (Active Directory, Entra ID), and API integrations.
- Troubleshooting: Advanced root-cause analysis skills for complex authentication, federation, and lifecycle errors.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
