About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced Data Modeller to drive enterprise data modelling initiatives across data warehousing, analytics, and cloud data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling, database design, and data governance, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality data architectures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-wide conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements and architectural standards.
- Develop dimensional data models using star and snowflake schemas to support data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytical workloads.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers, and analytics teams to gather requirements and define data structures.
- Translate business concepts and requirements into logical entities, attributes, relationships, constraints, and physical database structures.
- Support the design and evolution of enterprise data warehouses, data marts, reporting platforms, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Work with Azure data platforms, Snowflake, and Databricks to support data modelling and cloud migration initiatives.
- Optimise data models and database structures for query performance, scalability, maintainability, and efficient data processing.
- Establish and maintain data definitions, business rules, metadata, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.
- Promote data governance, standardisation, consistency, and quality across enterprise systems and data platforms.
- Identify and resolve data modelling issues, including duplication, inconsistent definitions, structural gaps, and performance bottlenecks.
- Ensure data models follow organisational data architecture principles, governance policies, and industry best practices.
- Maintain data models using tools such as ER/Studio, erwin Data Modeler, or equivalent modelling platforms.
- Support data integration, transformation, and migration initiatives by defining appropriate source-to-target mappings and data structures.
- Review existing data models and recommend improvements to simplify data architecture and improve usability across business and technical teams.
- Document modelling standards, design decisions, dependencies, and changes to ensure effective collaboration and long-term maintainability.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 10 - 16 years of relevant experience in data modelling, data architecture, database design, or enterprise data management, with at least 8 years of data modelling experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Good knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data marts, relational database design, and enterprise data architecture.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of database structures, relationships, constraints, and query performance optimisation.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks.
- Proficiency in data modelling tools such as ER/Studio, erwin Data Modeler, or equivalent.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, data dictionaries, and data lineage.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into scalable data models.
- Familiarity with source-to-target mapping, data integration, and cloud data migration initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with data engineering, analytics, architecture, and business teams.
