Job Description

Role Overview :

As a Functional Safety Application Engineer, you will be at the heart of our automotive embedded systems development, ensuring that our next-generation products meet the highest safety standards. You will bridge the gap between complex system requirements and robust software implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and global clients.

Your daily contributions will involve driving safety-critical design decisions, performing rigorous risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with international safety standards. By embedding safety into the core of our architecture, you will directly influence the reliability and performance of automotive systems that impact millions of end-users globally.

Key Responsibilities :

- Execute Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) to identify potential system failures and define safety goals for automotive applications.

- Conduct comprehensive Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to proactively mitigate risks and ensure system robustness during the design phase.

- Develop and implement safety-critical software components using Embedded C, ensuring adherence to MISRA standards and ISO 26262 compliance.

- Collaborate with system architects to define safety requirements and trace them through the development lifecycle in alignment with Automotive SPICE processes.

- Design and execute embedded testing protocols, including unit testing and integration testing, to validate safety mechanisms on target microcontrollers.

- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and stakeholders regarding safety-related design choices to maintain high engineering standards across the project.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in implementing ISO 26262 standards across the full software development lifecycle within automotive embedded systems.

- Proven ability to program in Embedded C and work with RTOS environments on various microcontroller architectures.

- Strong analytical skills in performing safety analysis, including HARA and FMEA, with a keen eye for identifying edge-case failures.

- Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate complex safety concepts to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

- A proactive mindset with the ability to navigate the rigors of Automotive SPICE and other quality management frameworks.

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Science Engineering, with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the automotive domain.

- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, on-site work environment in Bangalore, contributing to high-stakes projects with precision and technical rigor.
