About the Role:
We build data-driven business software, covering data analytics and a growing set of finance and operations products. We are looking for a full stack developer who can take a feature from database schema to backend service to working screen. You will write production code across Java, Python, JavaScript, and SQL, and see your work used by real clients.
Our products are multi-tenant and configuration-driven, so new clients and new use cases are onboarded without rewriting the application. You will work closely with the founder and architect, learn the existing codebase, and own modules end to end.
What You Will Build:
- Backend services: Java services and REST endpoints, and Python processing jobs, that implement business logic reliably and at scale.
- Web interfaces: Responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript screens with tables, filters, forms, dashboards, and charts that users rely on daily.
- Database layer: Well-designed MySQL and PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations that stay fast as data grows.
- Integrations and data pipelines: Connectors to external systems, file uploads and exports, and scheduled jobs that move and transform data safely.
- Secure, maintainable foundations: Authentication, role-based access, tenant data isolation, audit logging, and automated tests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full stack feature development: Design, build, and ship features end to end: database schema, backend logic, APIs, and the user interface. Take requirements from discussion to a deployed, working feature.
- Backend development: Write clean, modular Java (Spring or similar) and Python code. Build REST APIs, background jobs, and data processing logic, with proper validation, error handling, and logging.
- Frontend development: Build and maintain browser-based screens using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (jQuery or a modern framework), consuming APIs via AJAX and keeping the interface fast and easy to use.
- Database design and performance: Model data in MySQL and PostgreSQL, write efficient SQL, add indexes, and manage schema changes. Diagnose and fix slow queries.
- Quality, security, and delivery: Write unit and integration tests, review code, follow secure coding practices, deploy to Linux servers, fix production issues, and document what you build.
Required Skills:
- Java: Solid programming in Java, including object-oriented design, collections, and exception handling; experience with Spring (MVC or Boot) and JPA/Hibernate is a strong plus.
- Python: Working proficiency in Python for backend services, scripting, and data processing.
- Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including DOM manipulation, AJAX/fetch, and building responsive pages; jQuery, Bootstrap.
- Databases: Sound SQL and schema design in MySQL and PostgreSQL: joins, indexing, transactions, and query optimisation.
- APIs and web fundamentals: Building and consuming REST APIs, JSON, HTTP, sessions, and authentication.
- Engineering practice: Git, debugging, writing automated tests, deploying on Linux.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with JavaScript framework.
- Experience with MongoDB or another NoSQL database.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
Who This Role Is For:
The ideal candidate is a curious, hands-on developer who is comfortable across the stack. You can write clean backend and frontend code, design a sensible database schema, debug problems independently, and deliver working features with minimal supervision.
This role is not a fit for candidates who only want to work on a single layer of the stack, or whose experience is limited to low-code tools and configuration without writing custom software.
Selection priority: hands-on full stack development across Java or Python, JavaScript, and SQL databases.
